The Effect of Blended Learning Simulation on Learning Outcome | Chapter 1 | Language, Literature and Education: Research Updates Vol. 3

The development of aviation training grew rapidly along with the development of technology and science. Therefore, it is necessary for instructional designers to produce new instructional models to take advantage of educational research and development results. This paper presents the formative evaluation for an instructional model for Aerodrome Flight Information training development. The developed instructional model was a blending of e-briefing with face-to-face  role-play simulation and debriefing. The aim of this study was to improve the effectiveness of the developed instructional model. Respondents were selected from eight students who represent low, medium, and high learning achievement students.  This study employed a formative evaluation by Tessmer (2013) with both used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The respondents of field test are 22 students of the 2016-2017 academic years. The formative evaluation consisted of expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field test. This research was carried out at Indonesia Civil Aviation Institute. The data were collected through open-end interview, questionnaire, and field observation. The data analysis used descriptive statistic method. The finding indicates that the blended learning simulation-based model increased learning outcome (+12.55); students and instructors were more satisfy when they implemented this model (4.47); and the model increased student’s attention level (4.5). Based on the findings, the proposed instructional model can be implemented in this institution.

Integrated Attitude and Character Education Approach Based on National Primary School Curriculum | Chapter 04 | New Horizons in Education and Social Studies Vol. 9

The aim of this study is to examine the shortcomings of the character instructional/education approach in the Indonesian national primary school curriculum and to establish a conceptual approach to character instructional/education that is capable of instilling the characters found in the content of the social studies topic in primary schools. This thesis employed a descriptive methodology. The findings of this study revealed that (1) the scientific learning method could only establish scientific attitudes and character in students, while other attitudes and character could be developed in other ways. The implementation of the integrated scientific instructional/education method was able to instil the values of attitudes and characters found in the content of social studies to the students, and (2) the application of the integrated scientific instructional/education approach was able to instil the values of attitudes and characters contained in the content of social studies to the students. The student's perceptions of information, whether positive or negative, will shape attitudes, attitudes will form habits, and habits will shape character.

An Instructional Model of ASEAN Cross Cultural Learning of CLMV Students in Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University: Detailed Study | Chapter 3 | Emerging Trends in Engineering Research and Technology Vol. 6

The purpose of this research article was to develop and assess the quality of the instructional model of ASEAN cross cultural learning of CLMV students in Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. Multiphase mixed methods research applying quantitative research to extend qualitative results was used for research design. The qualitative target group was selected using purposive sampling whereas the quantitative sampling group was used two-stage random sampling. Interview guideline and questionnaires were used for measurement design. Qualitative data were classified and analyzed using content analysis and analytic induction. Quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and the developed model was validated by using LISREL program. Results showed that the instructional model of ASEAN cross cultural learning relating to consequent factors leading to a happy coexistence included 5 components as the following: 1) ASEAN cross cultural learning management; 2) components of ASEAN cross cultural learning; 3) ASEAN cross cultural learning process; 4) activities for cross cultural learning; and 5) coexistence with happiness following the principle of virtues for fraternal living (Saraniyadham). The developed model had its possibility, validity, appropriateness and benefit for the related students and instructors. The result of quantitative quality assessment for creating a generalizability model by validating the consistency between structural equation model of the instructional model of ASEAN cross cultural learning developed from qualitative research and the model developed from the relation between components and variables of the instructional model of ASEAN cross cultural learning were both well coherent and fit with the empirical data ) Chi-square=140.33, df=116, p=0.062, GFI=0.98, AGFI=0.95, RMR=0.023). It, thus, clearly showed that ASEAN cross cultural learning management, components of ASEAN cross cultural learning, ASEAN cross cultural learning process and activities for cross cultural learning were capable of promoting a happy coexistence.
