E-Commerce and Consumer Psychology: A Case Study of Online Shopping Behavior in Bhopal City | Chapter 10 | Science and Technology: Developments and Applications Vol. 6

The exponential rise in internet penetration and mobile technology adoption has transformed consumer behaviour, fuelling a massive shift towards online shopping in India. This digital transformation has paved the way for a dynamic e-commerce market where customer preferences, trust factors, and purchasing habits play a pivotal role in shaping business strategies. Understanding the key determinants influencing consumer behaviour is essential for e-commerce companies to optimize their platforms, improve customer satisfaction, and build long-term engagement.

This study delves into the mindset of consumers in Bhopal City regarding online shopping, analyzing their perceptions, motivations, and challenges. A structured online survey was conducted using Google Forms, gathering responses from 166 participants across diverse demographics, including students, working professionals, and self-employed individuals. The study investigates critical factors such as trust and security concerns, preferred payment methods, purchasing patterns, product preferences, and the role of digital marketing in influencing consumer decisions.

The findings reveal that while online shopping is widely accepted due to its convenience, competitive pricing, and wide product range, several barriers still hinder its full potential. Issues related to payment security, online fraud risks, delayed deliveries, return policies, and the reliability of product descriptions were found to impact consumer confidence. Moreover, the study highlights how social media advertisements, promotional discounts, and influencer marketing have emerged as significant drivers of online purchasing decisions.

The insights gained from this research are particularly beneficial for e-commerce businesses, digital marketers, and policymakers, enabling them to develop strategies that address consumer concerns and enhance their online retail experience. By understanding the evolving digital consumer behaviour in tier-2 cities like Bhopal, e-commerce companies can refine their market approaches and expand their customer base more effectively.

Transforming Online Retail: The Impact of Augmented and Virtual Reality on Consumer Engagement and Experience in E-Commerce | Chapter 6 | Current Progress in Arts and Social Studies Research Vol. 10

This study investigates the transformative role of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies in e-commerce and digital marketing. It aims to understand how these immersive technologies enhance consumer experiences by addressing challenges like product visualization, consumer trust, and engagement while fostering higher purchase intent and customer satisfaction. A systematic literature review synthesizes findings from empirical and theoretical studies published between 2011 and 2024. The methodologies analyzed include experimental designs, market analyses, and conceptual frameworks assessing the integration of AR and VR technologies in online retail. The findings indicate that AR enhances online shopping through features such as virtual try-ons and spatial placement visualization, reducing return rates and increasing purchase confidence. Conversely, VR provides immersive environments that simulate physical shopping experiences, strengthening consumer-brand connections. While AR demonstrates broader applicability in fostering interactive and personalized experiences, VR remains limited by accessibility and cost constraints. Both technologies exhibit immediate costs but offer long-term benefits, positively influencing conversion rates and customer loyalty. This study contributes to consumer behavior research by applying value perception models, immersive technology frameworks, and engagement metrics to the e-commerce landscape. It refines existing theoretical perspectives on technological adoption by highlighting the interplay between sensory engagement, emotional connection, and consumer decision-making. The research underscores the strategic importance of integrating AR and VR into digital marketing and e-commerce platforms. It suggests leveraging AR for product categories requiring spatial interaction and using VR for high-detail product exploration. The study provides actionable insights for businesses looking to enhance online shopping experiences through immersive technologies. This study offers a comprehensive synthesis of AR and VR applications in e-commerce, highlighting their potential to reshape online shopping. Bridging the gap between physical and digital retail experiences provides a fresh perspective on how immersive technologies can drive engagement, accessibility, and personalized consumer interactions. While this study synthesizes existing literature, empirical validation through longitudinal studies and cross-industry applications is necessary. Future research should explore the long-term effects of AR and VR adoption on consumer trust, loyalty, and behavioral changes. Additionally, further exploration is encouraged into gamification, artificial intelligence (AI) integration, and demographic-specific implementations to drive sustainable engagement.

Digital Lens: Exploring Customer Perceptions in the World of E-Commerce and E-Marketplaces | Chapter 8 | An Overview on Business, Management and Economics Research Vol. 7

The article is dedicated to the Pós-Covid 19 new world of fashion. The article aims to investigate the Perceptions of customers through digital tools like e-commerce and e-marketplaces as a means of readapting customers to social life online and to provide recommendations for the new process of buying. References to customer adaptation using digital tools in the buying process have been analyzed. The results of a survey conducted by the authors of Pós-Covid-19 noted that digital learning tools can be beneficial to fashion.

In this sense, this research aims to explore Customer Perceptions in the World of E-Commerce and E-Marketplaces through a qualitative analysis. The questionnaires were shared via email and on social networks like LinkedIn and Facebook from January to December 2022, obtaining a non-probabilistic sample, by Snowball composed of 1266 consumers of luxury fashion brands in social networks.

The research concludes that the main contribution is the proximity to the customer and permanent contact, which enhances consumer loyalty. It is concluded that the luxury market favors social networks as a form of communication, valuing the fast transmission of messages and the ease of interacting and receiving feedback from consumers.

It was possible to verify that most luxury consumers spend more than 4 to 5 hours a day on the Internet, especially in the younger age groups. It was also clear that most of the sample consulted social networks through mobile phones for the sake of convenience and lack of time. The social networks privileged by these consumers are Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. This fact does not meet the study conducted. Effectively TikTok appears in both studies, but the passion for social networks "in motion", as is the case of TikTok and YouTube is something recent.

The study presented helpful information for luxury market managers to understand the usage of technology among customers. Appropriate support through mobile applications can contribute to the intention to continue using luxury social media and facilitate a long-term relationship between luxury brands and customers.
