Deployment of 5G Technology for Sustainable Precision Agriculture in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State | Chapter 3 | New Horizons of Science, Technology and Culture Vol. 7

 

The integration of 5G technology into smart and sustainable agriculture has the potential to revolutionise agricultural productivity and enhance food security in the Ibaji Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State, Nigeria. Food insecurity and malnutrition continue in the region because of outdated farming methods. These make food production susceptible to unpredictable rainfall, limited access to modern agricultural technologies, and unprofitable yields. Although 5G-enabled precision agriculture has been widely explored, only a few studies integrate 5G deployment with structured security threat analysis frameworks, such as STRIDE, particularly in smallholder farming contexts. This study assessed the potential of 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for real-time tracking and automated control of resource (input) optimisation to improve farm resource (input) management and profitability. Using a mixed-method approach that included agricultural field surveys of local farmers and simulations of 5G sensors as agricultural technology for the Ibaji region in Kogi State, Nigeria, the Ibaji precision agriculture system was designed. The study analyses two primary use cases: Sensor-Based Monitoring and Automated Resource Management. For Field Surveys, 50 local farmers were surveyed to understand the primary agricultural problems and to assist in the validation of sensor placement. Additionally, a simulation-based system design was developed using Python to model 5G-connected sensors and actuators for real-time monitoring of soil moisture, nutrients, and pH levels. Results revealed that 5G technology for resource control and farm practice optimisation led to improved agricultural yields by 20% and resource management by 15%, demonstrating the potential of modern technology to alleviate food security challenges and resource poverty in the region. This study concludes that a basic 5G-enabled sensing and actuation stack, secured with minimal but critical controls, can improve yields and reduce input use in a resource-constrained smallholder setting such as Ibaji.

Securing Financial Transactions: A Taxonomical Review of Cybersecurity Strategies in Banking | Chapter 4 | Business, Management and Economics: Research Progress Vol. 7

The financial sector has become one of the most heavily targeted industries for cyberattacks due to its vast repository of sensitive information and its pivotal role in the global economy. As banking institutions rapidly adopt digital technologies to enhance service delivery and customer experience, they are increasingly exposed to sophisticated cyber threats. This paper presents an extensive taxonomical review of the various cybersecurity strategies employed in the banking sector to secure financial transactions and protect against data breaches, financial fraud, and identity theft. The study categorizes existing cybersecurity mechanisms into distinct classes based on their core functionalities, technological frameworks, and applicability in different contexts of banking operations. The taxonomy is divided into preventive, detective, and corrective strategies, each covering a diverse set of techniques and tools. Preventive measures include encryption standards, secure coding practices, and robust authentication methods such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) and biometric verification. Detective strategies focus on real-time monitoring systems like intrusion detection systems (IDS), artificial intelligence (AI)-driven threat detection, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions. Corrective strategies encompass incident response frameworks, disaster recovery plans, and data loss prevention (DLP) measures designed to mitigate damage in the aftermath of a cyberattack.

One of the key contributions of this review is an in-depth evaluation of emerging technologies and their role in transforming banking cybersecurity. These include blockchain-based transaction validation, quantum cryptography, AI and machine learning algorithms for anomaly detection, and zero-trust architectures that enforce strict verification at every layer of the network. The paper discusses how these advanced solutions complement traditional security measures and create a multi-layered defense system capable of addressing the increasingly complex threat landscape. The review highlights the importance of regulatory compliance and international standards, such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and ISO/IEC 27001, in shaping cybersecurity strategies within banking institutions. Adherence to these standards not only ensures legal compliance but also provides a foundational framework for implementing effective security controls. Furthermore, the study analyzes the cost-effectiveness of different cybersecurity strategies, considering the financial constraints and resource availability that often influence the adoption of advanced technologies in small and medium-sized banking institutions.

Cyber Hygiene Best Practices in Higher Educational Institutes | Chapter 10 | Mathematics and Computer Science: Research Updates Vol. 2

In this world where almost everything is shifting to an online mode, cyber hygiene is of utmost importance. The recent pandemic has made us realize the wonders that can be done by shifting to the online mode or at least by transforming some of the work to an online platform thus operating a hybrid platform. Internet has become one of the integral parts of our daily life. It has transformed the way we communicate; make friends, share updates, play games, and shop. They are impacting most aspects of our day-to-day life. Education is one of the important sectors for dissemination of information on prevention of cyber-crimes and reiterated that students can act, as a force multiplier to create an ecosystem for cyber security and to prevent cyber-crimes. Cyberspace connects us virtually with crores of online users across the globe. With increasing use of cyberspace, cybercrimes especially against women and children such as cyber stalking, cyber bullying, cyber harassment, child pornography, rape content, etc. are also increasing rapidly. To stay safe in the online world, it is important to follow some cyber safe practices which may help in making our online experience more productive. Cyber Hygiene is the need-of-the-hour in the world which is rapidly transforming to an online mode. This paper focuses on how cyber hygiene can be introduced and implemented in higher educational institutes so that both direct and indirect stakeholders of the institute are safe from security threats. The study concluded that building a routine around cyber hygiene will help prevent cybercriminals from causing security breaches or stealing personal information. At the same time, cyber security is a highly dynamic concept, it is essential to continuously upgrade the cyber hygiene policies and practices to keep up to the increasing threats in the digital world.

The Validation of Cryptographic Algorithms and Development of Block Ciphers with Electronic Code Book for a Control System at Nuclear Power Plants: A Scientific Approach | Chapter 11 | Advances and Challenges in Science and Technology Vol. 9

 This study specifies approaches for validating cryptographic algorithms that should be secondhand continually at the critical control system of I&C in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs).  The mathematical system has many advantages and mechanics advances in the operation of many energy-producing station systems. However, cybersecurity concede possibility be considered essential for stable movement of digital methods. NPPs have acknowledged the need of nuclear cybersecurity.  Basic operating organizations along with joined systems production organizations, design companies, and supervisory agencies are looking at methods to prepare for basic cybersecurity according to regulatory directions and security-related guidelines issued by supervisory agencies around the globe, including the IAEA, NRC, and KINAC.  To meet nuclear cybersecurity flags, cryptographic algorithms must be developed and redistributed.   Validation programs are created in the PLC, a important component of an NPP's I&C, using the suggested blueprints, and the validation program is confirmed by simulation results. The approaches suggested in this place paper may offer guidance for Cryptographic Piece Validation Shaping for Control Systems in NPPs, as there hasn't happened any work done on evolving a cryptographic algorithm confirmation program for crucial digital methods of NPPs. Specifically, program codes and confirmation models are introduced together with particular testing methodologies for ECB way-based block ciphers between many CMVP.

An Analytical Study on Disruptive Technologies in Zimbabwe| Chapter 5 | Recent Progress in Science and Technology Vol. 2

 Our sink this study was to speak to causing trouble innovations in spite of cyber fraudsters who act the prowl. The goal concerning this study was therefore, to illustrate Zimbabwe's financial services area is embracing disruptive electronics and the preliminary benefits; one of the country's best financial institutions. The study selected the qualitative methodology accompanying a desk content study. The findings of the study are that: banks, as part of the monetary services industry, have the important roles in the development and economic development of a country with its own government; hence the necessity to insulate these institutions from the shenanigan of fraudsters. The study further discovered that Zimbabwean government's approach to novelty should be focused on big market changes alternatively on existing infrastructure. The study again found out that cyber-attacks are certain; however, skilled are various advantages to accepting disruptive technologies for the fiscal industry as labeled. There is need therefore, to fully understand disruptive technology and form its use more consummate. Apart from insulating information systems, calculatings, devices, programs, data and networks from within or external dangers, harm, damage, attacks or unauthorized access, - causing trouble technologies identified in the study to a degree Cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, Block chain science, Cyber security, and Big Data; have other real benefits, ranging from serving more consumers, expanding retail share, to increasing revenue at a lower cost. The study suggested a couple of recommendations; that the economic service subdivision in Zimbabwe should adapt to causing trouble technologies and move from conservatism. That Regulators and the Government concede possibility soften investment laws and regulation to admit quick adoption to new causing trouble technologies what the financial service subdivision must invest in financial and workforce to enable nimble uptake of technological changes.

Investigating the Dimensions of Consumer Protection in E-Commerce | Chapter 4 | Modern Perspectives in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 10

 Any business transaction that involves the transfer of data via the internet is referred to as e-commerce. In recent years, electronic commerce has increased significantly. The distinction between "traditional" and "electronic" trading will dissolve in the future as more businesses migrate parts of their operations to the Internet. The Internet has given consumers a powerful tool for searching for and purchasing goods and services. The first business-to-consumer e-commerce site in India was Baazee.com. eBay paid $50 million for Baazee.com Inc. and its subsidiary Baazee.com India Pvt Ltd in 2004. New players such as Flipkart.com, Snapdeal.com, and Amazon.in entered the E-commerce business as internet availability increased in India. Several E-commerce enterprises, such as lenskart.com, which offers spectacles, specialise on a specific product sector. Businesses are also exploring into areas where customers are hesitant to buy products and services from traditional brick-and-mortar establishments, such as cilory.com, which sells a wide range of lingerie. The prevalence of smartphones has boosted the growth of E-commerce in India. The surge in popularity of E-commerce has brought with it a plethora of customer issues, including personal information leaks, unauthorised payments, and credit and debit card information theft. The present legal protections given in the sphere of e-commerce are investigated in this article. The research also looks into areas where there are still gaps to be filled.
