Study on Exorcism in Mark’s Gospel: Implications of Jesus’ Perspective for Today | Chapter 11 | Selected Topics in Humanities and Social Sciences Vol. 8

Exorcism is a theological word that has piqued the interest of several New Testament scholars in the last three decades. It's a worldwide phenomena. According to research, certain churches, particularly orthodox ones, have paid little attention to this aspect of Jesus' mission. Using St. Mark's narratives as a framework, this study attempts to determine what exorcism is and how it is dealt by the contemporary church. Humans demand that the church adjust its worldview to include deliverance ministry in addition to the "prosperity message." The Church should be mindful that a prosperity message will not have the desired effect unless people's lives are characterised by optimal health, which makes life worthwhile. In St. Mark's Gospel, Jesus demonstrated how and what the Church of God should do in response to the presence of evil spirits or demonic forces in the realm of evil that is ruining the lives of many people inside God's creation. This chapter attempted to identify key topics of concern in dealing with exorcism, particularly in the twenty-first century church. The church is the average man's last chance. The existence of evil spirits and demonic powers is a fact that cannot be denied. If a human being wants to fulfil his or her destiny in life according to God's plan, then obstacles that may obstruct that goal should be carefully addressed by individuals or the church to which the gift of exorcism is entrusted.
