The effective properties of composite materials reinforced by whiskerized fibres are determined using a three-phase approach proposed in this study. The study considers a modified composite made up of two phases: a fibre and a whiskerized layer that acts as a binder. Calculations of the stress-strain state in each phase and calculations of effective properties are performed for a modified composite loaded with longitudinal shear. The strength of the composite is assumed to be controlled by the binder in the case of pure shear along the fibre; therefore, the deformed state in each of the phases of the modified composite is investigated, and a comparison with the deformed state in each of the phases of a similar classical composite is performed. A comparison of the computed values of the effective longitudinal shear modulus and effective loss modulus is also performed. The effects of rigid CNTs and less rigid ZnO nanotubes on two types of modified composites are explored.
