(Ikshvaku) is an annular herbaceous climbing plant with a long history of medicinal uses for the treatment of various diseases, including jaundice, diabetes, ulcer, piles, colitis, asthma, insanity, hypertension, CCf, skin disorders. Lagenaria vulgaris (Monila) Standing. As both an emetic and purgative, the fruit pulp is used. Its fruit pulp powder was selected to research its emetic effect clinically on Bronchial Asthma on the basis of classical Ayurvedic textual indications and recent pharmacological studies. This fruit pulp powder was subjected to some phamacognostic & pharmaceutical studies before the clinical trials to find the macroscopic & microscopic characters, pH, Ash value, extractive values, drying loss , high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) etc. for drug standardisation before performing the clinical trials.
