In order to obtain a simpler connection between the secure bearing potential of cohesion-less soil and the angle of internal friction, the current analysis was carried out using the theory of least squares. Secure soil bearing potential is used in the construction of foundations. Shallow foundations are used extensively in the form of continuous strips. Standard calculations are required to estimate the secure bearing ability of the shallow foundations of the soil supporting strip. For cohesion-less soil, it appears from these equations that there is a clear dependency of bearing capability on the angle of internal friction. This relationship was developed on the basis of the correlation observed between the safe bearing ability and the inner friction angle of soil samples collected from Birla Institute of Technology & Science; Pilani campus within 100 km. By analysing 20 separate cohesion-less soil samples, correlation was established and checked for 19 other cohesion-less soil samples. Analytical equations have been developed in the form of both linear and quadratic polynomials. The correlation coefficient was found to be 0.869319 & 0.942516 between the real and estimated value of safe bearing potential for linear and quadratic polynomials. It can be argued that the approach presented in this study is of significant importance. The calculated safe bearing capacity value using equations built in the current study is for 2 metres of wide strip footing with 2 metres of embedment depth. The loading state is vertical with no impact of eccentricity.
