Probiotics and Oxidative Stress | Book Publisher International

The ageing of the population is getting increasingly serious. In recent years, there has been a lot of interest in finding anti-aging active compounds and examining their anti-aging mechanisms. Probiotics have the advantages of excellent safety, a large source of strains, ease of access, and low cost as a potential anti-aging drug. Probiotics of the intestinal flora are constantly changing from birth to death. Bacteria colonised the intestine rapidly after the baby was born, starting with aerobic bacteria like E. coli and Streptococcus. The quantity of aerobic bacteria reduced after one week, but the number of Bifidobacteria grew, becoming the dominant strain. After a progressive increase in the number of Lactobacillus and Bacteroides and a minor drop in the number of Bifidobacteria, the intestinal flora adopts a reasonably stable flora structure from childhood to maturity. The number and species of Bifidobacteria and Bacteroides declined greatly as people aged, whereas the number of facultative anaerobic bacteria like Clostridium and Clostridium putrefaciens grew dramatically, and the intestinal flora became more diverse. The intestinal flora will alter as the body ages, with Bifidobacteria and Bacteroides in the intestinal flora gradually decreasing and Clostridium and Clostridium putrefaciens in the intestinal flora gradually increasing. Probiotics can impact the intestinal flora and postpone ageing by acting as beneficial bacteria to the host in the intestinal flora. This book investigates probiotics from various sources and discusses their antioxidant properties and mechanisms.
