Volunteering aids in the development of young people, yet the process by which these changes occur is not well understood. The study focuses on the Mei Xian Team, a group of college students from urban colleges that volunteer in rural China to assist with teaching in remote communities. The study looks at how volunteering affects people's attitudes, behaviours, and socialisation through in-depth interviews, focus groups, and observation.
During their journey of assisting rural children with minimal resources, young volunteers formed their personalities. Interaction, conflict resolution, and socialisation all contribute to youth growth during the volunteering process. Among the research participants, there were a variety of personal and interpersonal relationships. These volunteer tourists demonstrated how their travel experience influenced personal changes and youth travel socialisation.
