The goal of this study is to look into the many changes that occur in the GABAA receptor in the central nervous system (CNS) when drugs like benzodiazepines and alcohol are consumed. The GABAA receptor of the synaptic plasticity system has been linked to alcohol misuse, implying neuron problems, according to relevant research reported in the literature. Although tolerance to alcohol intoxication is thought to occur at numerous levels, modifications in synaptic functioning are thought to play a substantial role, according to these findings in the literature. The excitatory alterations that alcohol causes are compensatory. The development of ethanol tolerance is likely aided by inhibitory GABAA receptors. A variety of medications, including barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and anaesthetics, act on these receptors. The findings show that alcohol causes various neuron and peripheral tissue problems, as well as a decrease in chloride ion flux in chore channels at GABAA and GABAB receptors.
