The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) created and designed the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), a self-contained navigation system. The Indian Prime Minister has named it NavIC, Navigation with Indian Constellation. NavIC is a seven-satellite constellation that will provide accurate positioning to India. Services such as navigation and timing are available. Acquisition, tracking, and navigation are the primary modules of the NavIC receiver. The data processing unit responsible for recognizing satellite signals and their associated code phase and carrier frequency. is referred to as acquisition. Several acquisition strategies, such as serial search and parallel code phase search, are available. In this chapter, algorithms are investigated and contrasted with Cooley-Tukey FFT and sub-sampled Fast Fourier transform techniques (ssFFT). According to MATLAB results, the acquisition computation time for a ssFFT-based NavIC receiver is faster than parallel FFT acquisition, and the Cooley-Tukey FFT IRNSS acquisition algorithm is faster and offers better code phase and carrier frequency values than the serial search acquisition approach. The use of sparse FFT, Fourier transform, and decimator properties, as well as the use of sub sampled FFT, results in a reduction in acquisition time and computation complexity.
