A Recent Study on the Utility of Garbhini Paricharya (Pre-Natal Care) in Today’s Era |Chapter 2| Current Topics in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

The most critical feature of the entire Prasuti Tantra region is Garbhini Paricharya. A proper Garbhini Paricharya will contribute to the proper development of the foetus, its birth, the mother's wellbeing, and thus its ability to endure the labour strain and have a post-natal period that is eventless. The treatment of pregnant women reflects on the quality and health of the offspring, and it is vital for all pregnant women to give birth to a healthy child. The latest W.H.O. study indicates that approximately 830 women die every day from preventable causes associated with pregnancy and child birth. In order to avoid various complications and to provide the pregnant lady and her growing offspring with safe management, Ayurveda has identified a systematic and scheduled programme for Garbhini, i.e. Parichayra Garbhini. As these have a direct effect on the health of mother & child, Garbhini Paricharya prescribes Ahara Vihara & Vichara. A national strategy plan to promote the Ayurvedic system of medicine for maternal and foetal well-being from top to grass root levels must be developed urgently by including Ayurveda in the RCH (Reproductive and Child Health) Programme.
