The present study proposed to find out the correlation betwixt the mean platelet volume in the late 1st trimester of gestation and development of a Preeclampsia later on. Preeclampsia (PE) is a gestation-specific healing disorder that is characterized by incitement of the coagulation plan, and endothelial cell dysfunction. This disorder is a major cause of motherly and fetal depression and mortality. It was a prospective companion study in which 500 significant women (11–14 weeks of gestation) were registered and their mean platelet volume (MPV) was calculated. They were followed till delivery. MPV of pre-eclamptic and normotensive wives was compared.MPV of pre-eclamptic daughters was significantly higher than that of the normotensive wives (p = 0.001).MPV > 10.55 fL was found to be 68.7% delicate and 55.9% specific for the prophecy of Preeclampsia with a negative predictive profit of 87.6%. Thestudy suggest attending future research with a large sample amount to investigate the blend of mean platelet volume with added cost-effective indicators in order to increase the sensitivity and particularity of preeclampsia prediction outside adding additional fiscal burden to expectant inventors, particularly in low-means settings.
