Companies are constantly updating their goods, both in terms of design and performance, as well as in terms of manufacturing technology, in order to ensure high performance, low cost, and short manufacture time. Different researchers have studied the concept of feature recognition in as many activities as possible that contribute to the achievement of a product, starting from design, manufacturing, production planning, assembly, and quality management, thanks to the integration of Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications with Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) applications. The automatic realisation of programmes for numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools based on the characteristics of the features that make up the part was tackled to make the production process more efficient. The article gives a case study on how to use the Siemens NX application's feature recognition capabilities to run machining programmes on CNC machine tools.
