The effect of transportation infrastructure on trade in Chinese provinces directly impacted by the “One Belt, One Road” initiative is discussed in this chapter. That is why infrastructure is relevant in the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, and one of the initiative's main goals is to encourage unrestricted trade in China. Based on data from China's National Bureau of Statistics and articles related to "One Belt, One Road," the authors examined the effect of railways and highways, which are core elements of transportation infrastructure, on total value of exports and imports in Chinese inland provinces directly impacted by "One Belt, One Road." The inference is that railways and highways have a close relationship with trade, and the effects of various elements of transportation infrastructure vary among inland provinces affected by "One Belt, One Road," necessitating reasonable transportation infrastructure management in order to promote trade across provinces. This research will help with decisions about infrastructure investment to ensure purposeful TVEI in the future as the OBOR is implemented.
