An Investigation of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on Piezoelectric Compliance in Ultrasonic Vibration Assisted Milling (UVAM) for Preparing Surface Edge Treatment on Cutting Tool | Chapter 1 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 4

Ansys Software, a programme that can analyse and simulate the dynamic behaviour of piezoelectric actuators, has been used to create a finite element analysis for piezoelectric actuators. UVAM (Ultrasonic Vibration Assisted Milling) is a method that combines milling with a vibration device on the compliance mechanism. The Ultrasonic Vibration Assisted Milling (UVAM) experiment had a difficult time investigating the effect of vibration mechanism because there were errors in the material, mechanism, and piezoelectric connection, which affected the amplitude and frequency of mechanical compliance during UVAM machining. This paper will look at piezoelectric compliance modelling and use FEA procedures to reliably predict the complex behaviour of compliance. Voltage, electromechanical coupling, and frequency are the parameters for piezoelectric simulation. Solid Works 2014 is used to model the compliance process, which is then imported into Ansys Mechanical APDL Software, where the piezoelectric is embedded. The mode shape and displacement were determined using modal analysis and harmonic analysis. The compliance mechanism's displacement will be compared between simulation and experiment. The dynamic behaviour was studied in simulation to determine the enforcement mechanism's reliability before it was safely used in UVAM. The displacement is critical for the compliance process because it affects the precision of the work piece's vibration during machining. The shape of the natural frequency mode is a modal parameter that can be used to analyse and avoid vibration problems caused by resonance.
