Basic Concepts of Orthodontic Implants | Chapter 9 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 6

Orthodontic implants have proven to be a reliable tool for supplying temporary additional anchorage in orthodontic practise. These devices are useful for controlling skeletal anchorage in patients who are less compliant or when absolute anchorage is needed. Simple insertion, reduced patient pain, low price, immediate loading, reduced diameter, flexibility in the forces to be used, ease of washing, and ease of removal are just a few of the benefits of this new method. However, careful screw management by the practitioner is needed to improve the technique's success rate. Orthodontic implants and dental implants serve different functions. The aim of this paper is to provide latest information on orthodontic implants and orthodontic mechanics to practitioners.
