This book develops a methodology for the analysis and design of behaviors, which include emotions. It provides a new perspective because perceiving is not the same as feeling. Emotions are of vital importance because they represent the guardian during the decision-making process, giving rise to consciousness.
The objective of this analysis and design is to create autonomous
behaviors that can be encapsulated in intelligent agents, to anthropomorphize
the spaces that humans inhabit.
These artificial entities, also known as virtual humans, are
already among us helping with different tasks, causing both cognitive and physical
interaction. Including emotions provides an enriched interaction, because these
entities can perceive the emotional state of the human, which leads to greater
intimacy. Consequently, the decision-making process is more appropriate because
it takes into account not only the information coming from the environment but
also the internal information underlying the emotions. In addition to the speed
and accuracy in data processing.
To achieve this, tools from cognitive sciences, artificial
intelligence and structures that interact based on rules containing imprecise
information and reasoning with uncertainty are used. These rules allow the
expression of causal relationships existing between these concepts.
This book is a journey through its seven chapters that goes
from the foundations of human behavior to the analysis and design of the
behavior of an artificial entity in a predetermined domain, considering
emotions as part of the information necessary to make the most appropriate
decision.
As a reflection, emphasis is placed on transdisciplinary as
a primary element to develop these virtual humans and bring them to a reality
in the environment that humans inhabit, whether with a digital or physical
appearance.
