In the previous chapter, some highlights of classical control theory were narrated and explained on the whole. In this chapter, the mathematical expression of a linear system was described and discussed. Methods of writing state variable forms of the system model were narrated. The state space model of the system included a description of the internal status of that system, in addition to input-output behavior. Therefore, state space models represented a more complete description in general. Furthermore, some common mathematical models which could be applied to modern control systems were listed and analyzed to help readers further comprehend linear systems.
