A Philosophical Approach to the Psychological Model of Phonosemantics | Book Publisher International

The evolution of language is an unsolved mystery, much like the evolution of the universe. It is believed that something akin to the Big Bang might have occurred linguistically. However, the author believes that the evolution of language followed the path proposed by Charles Darwin, where the fittest words survived. Similarly, when naming an object, humans tend to select the most popular name used by the greatest number of people. This book explains the processes of acceptance, perception, and the expression of symbols. Acceptance is described as the conversion of physical sound to biological phonemes and then from biological phonemes to psychological interpretations, which is a natural process. Expression is simply the reverse of this process. Although the conversion of psychological interpretation to intellectual meaning might seem natural if humans had no free will, humans do have free will, and thus a sense of arbitrariness is involved. The second half of the book presents a common model of an entity that is applicable to all entities, whether they are physical, biological, psychological, or intellectual. The book proposes a model of a psychological entity and places different consonants and vowels in their appropriate positions. The latter third of the book explains how a word should be read to derive possible meanings using phonosemantics, with examples of approximately 800 words from 19 languages, using the International Phonetic Alphabet as the basic medium of analysis. This demonstrates that a universal theory of phonosemantics is applicable across all languages. The author claims that it may be possible to understand animal emotions in future by precisely evaluating their IPA sounds using AI and computers. In summary, the theory proposes that all phonemes have specific psychological interpretations, which can be used to convey intellectual meanings, forming the basis of language evolution.
