The First Step towards a Salutogenic Workplace: The Experience of Umbra Group | Chapter 8 | Current Innovations in Disease and Health Research Vol. 8

 Background: One of the superior risk factor for desertion and loss of occupied capability is depicted by work related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD). Lifting burdensome objects, occupied with the narrow connector in a flexed position, are just some of the risk determinants that can lead to WMSD, that can develop into never-ending lumbar pain, hernias or other narrow connector, shoulder, elbow, help, wrist and back diseases. In best wishes to the Italian situation, in the last ten of something there has happened a double increase in WMSD cases betwixt 2005 and 2009 (7926 cases in 2005, 16593 in 2009). Evidence today, underlines the essentiality to create and persuasive and sustainable energy and safety arranging to think worldwide (all risks – work and individual, all fonts – organizational or individual) and take action a single or top two activities done yearly.  Objective: Introduce a new plan in promoting energy and safety in the business starting with a border line risk. Describe, the knowledge of the Italian Umbra Group in introducing WHP knowledge and all the steps and effects aimed to prevent, prevent and treat musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD).Methods: Re-organized and devised the WHP group. Recruited 52 voluntary between workers newsgathering expected affected by depressed back pain and/or neck pain and/or Skeletal Muscle Disorders (DMS). Four justified questionnaires were used: recall questionnaire, Neck Pain Questionnaire, Oswestry Low Back Pain Questionnaire, and Numeric Pain Intensity Scale. Based on the results the engaged in where detached in five small various  groups. Two checkups and face to face cautioning. For each participate was adapted a particular protocol of healing exercises. Included a phase of direct attention, with the aim of label incorrect management, and an educational program proposed to modify or eliminate them. A second direct note period was arranged 6 months after to judge the persuasive change in habits.Results: The main results for NRS back in T0 is 6.1± 3.2, in T1 it is 3.88 ± 2.9. The Oswestry Low Back Pain in T0 24.4 ± 17.8,in T1 it is 16.1 ± 7.2.Postural reasoning using the Posture Score Sheet 57.3 ± 10.7 in T0 and in T1 of 63.7 ± 9.8.Conclusions: The first happening by the WHP group was achieved with profit. From the decision making, to the healing protocol on account of the multidisciplinary table for well-being for a recognized "border" risk: WMSD was achieved accompanying satisfaction for one management and employees. The planning process had two main consequences: Demonstrated that it is more convenient to program, before repair; that a participatory procedure guarantees partnership, and gives the management the capacity to take the next step: free internal money: introduce an within gym and free courses for correct posture. The plan search out replay the unchanging participatory process for other issues, so that become, gradual, a Salutogenic workplace.
