So far, the subjects of neurotheological research have made dubious statements that their experiences are comparable to the alleged revelatory and spiritual experiences of the major religions and mystical traditions' creators. Parallels between ancient mysticism and modern science have largely been limited to romantic metaphors so far. However, a new way of bringing ancient statements of supersensory experiences of absolute reality to the test is on the horizon. Mystical traditions have long identified a circuit linking the human and divine self that passes through the centre of the spine. If the definitions of this circuit are based on real interoceptions, it corresponds to Reissner's fibre, a little-known, epigenetically suppressed structure that encases the central axis of the central nervous system (RF). A regenerated fibre has the ability to establish a new relationship with realities that quantum orthodoxy has proclaimed to be beyond creation or understanding, a relationship that could lead to a marriage between religion's roots and science's frontiers.
