Educational Innovation in Secondary Classrooms in Castellón Province, Spain: Qualitative insights into ICT Use and Motivational Strategies | Chapter 8 | Language, Literature and Education: Research Updates Vol. 10

 

The Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching at Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain) includes a required Practicum in secondary education schools. In secondary education, the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has emerged as a central dimension of innovation, yet its effectiveness depends largely on how technology is pedagogically embedded. This study examines how mentor teachers incorporate innovative methodologies and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) during this placement. A total of 115 Master’s students analysed the pedagogical practices of their mentor teachers across 36 secondary schools in Castellón Province. Special attention was given to teachers’ use of innovative resources and their strategies for encouraging student motivation. Findings reveal notable differences among teachers. While 15% demonstrated consistent and meaningful integration of innovative practices and ICT tools, 40% mixed traditional methods with limited technological support, and 45% primarily relied on traditional, lecture-based instruction. The results suggest that although ICT resources are widely available, their pedagogical integration largely depends on teacher intent and methodological focus. The study emphasises that innovation is a structured and reflective process rather than just technological adoption.

Technophobia in the Use of ICT among Secondary School Teachers: An Investigation | Book Publisher International

 

Based on the findings, it can be concluded that teachers in secondary schools exhibit the highest level of technophobia towards the use of ICT, primarily due to their anxiety about using technology in the classroom. This fear stems from their lack of familiarity with digital tools and a strong belief that technology cannot replace the role of a teacher in education. In addition to their anxiety, teachers also display significant technophobia towards the use of ICT, particularly concerning their beliefs about the impact of technology in the classroom. Many teachers have developed an aversion to ICT tools, fearing that their use may lead to job reductions or health issues. This fear has led to a higher level of resistance to integrating ICT into their teaching practices. Finally, teachers also express considerable technophobia regarding their access to ICT tools. The lack of access to necessary technology, such as computers, internet facilities, and other devices, contributes to negative feelings toward its use in the classroom. When teachers do not have adequate access to these resources, they feel unable to incorporate technology into their teaching effectively, further increasing their technophobia. This lack of access reinforces their resistance to using ICT tools in secondary schools.

 

This study explores the technophobia exhibited by teachers towards the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in secondary schools, specifically focusing on those with high acceptance scores (80% and above) across various dimensions of technophobia. The research examines the profile of teachers who demonstrate technophobic tendencies, analysing their attitudes, beliefs, and experiences regarding the integration of ICT into the educational environment. By identifying patterns within these teachers' responses and categorising them according to different components of technophobia, the study provides insight into the underlying factors that contribute to resistance to ICT adoption. The findings highlight critical areas for intervention, offering recommendations for addressing and overcoming technophobia in secondary school educators to enhance ICT integration in teaching practices.

 

This study investigates the technophobia among secondary school teachers towards the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), focusing on high acceptance scores (80% and above) in various dimensions of technophobia. The research addresses three key aspects: teachers' anxiety towards ICT, their access to ICT tools, and their beliefs regarding the use of these tools in education. Regarding anxiety, the study finds that teachers are generally fearful of using technology in the classroom, struggle with computer terminology, and feel nervous about making digital transactions or using bank ATMs. Additionally, teachers express the belief that modern technologies cannot replace a teacher in the classroom. On the dimension of ICT tool access, the findings indicate that teachers lack essential ICT resources, such as computers and internet access in their schools. Furthermore, teachers report that they did not receive sufficient training on ICT use during their teacher education programs. Finally, teachers' beliefs about ICT tools reveal that they find them difficult to use, fear that computers are replacing jobs, believe there is too much emphasis on computer education in society, and are concerned about potential future health problems due to prolonged computer use. These insights provide a comprehensive profile of teachers' technophobic tendencies, highlighting areas where intervention is needed to improve ICT adoption and integration in secondary schools.

Employment Spillover Effects of ICT in the Non-ICT Industries: Evidence from South Africa| Chapter 6 | Business, Management and Economics - Research Progress Vol. 1

 

The study aims to analyse the employment spillover effects of ICT in the non-ICT industries. For the empirical analysis, the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) model was used to account for the short- and long-run effects of ICT investment on the employment growth of agro-processing industries (i.e. non-ICT industries). The analyses were conducted in a multivariate setting to establish whether labour productivity and output growth effects of ICT investment would spill over to employment growth in those agro-processing industries that invested in ICT more intensively. The findings showed that the labour productivity and output growth effects of ICT investment would be realised in the long run and such effects would spill over to employment growth of the industry group that invested more in ICT. Two implications can be derived from these findings. First, the effects of ICT on employment growth differ according to the intensity of ICT investment, such that employment spillover effects of ICT would be realised by the agro-processing industries that invested in ICT more intensively. Second, such effects would be realised in the long run, suggesting that it would take longer for the returns on ICT investment to be realised. Therefore, policymakers should prioritise the agro-processing industries that are more ICT-intensive for ICT-related investments. Such investments should be undertaken over the long term, as the returns on ICT investment take time to materialise.

Theoretical Insights and Solvatochromic Behavior of 1,3-Benzodioxole Derivatives | Chapter 6 | Current Research Progress in Physical Science Vol. 3

 

The use of spectroscopic techniques, including UV–vis absorption and fluorescence, combined with quantum chemical calculations, allowed us to gain a comprehensive understanding of the (E)-1-(4-hydroxypiperidin-1-yl)-3-(7-methoxybenzo[d][1,3] dioxol-5-yl)prop-2-en-1-one compounds' photophysical properties. The various solute and solvent interactions were investigated using Catalan's and Kamlet's techniques. The compound's excited state dipole moment was estimated using Lippert, Kawski-Chamma-Viallet, Bakhshiev, and \(E_N^T\) solvent polarity parameters. It had been found that the excited state dipole moment was greater than the dipole moment in the ground state. Variations in the solvent's polarity have a direct impact on the distribution of energy in ES. AS and NAS showed a surge in Stokes' shift, which rises with increasing solvent polarity. There could be specific solute-solvent interactions causing this. The redshift results from an effective intermolecular interface with the ES of the polar solvents caused by a significant distinction between the solute's ES and the spreading of GS charge. Further study was conducted to understand further the compound's molecular properties using computational approaches.

Online Education Versus On-Site Education in the Pandemic Period | Chapter 10 | An Overview of Literature, Language and Education Research Vol. 5

Online education during the pandemic has led to changes in the education process. Teachers had to change their teaching methods. The students felt the effects of this change. The purpose of this study is to find out the opinion of students from a university in Romania regarding these changes. A total of 79 respondents participated in this study: 26 students of the Faculty of Letters and Science and 53 students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at Petroleum and Gas University of Ploiesti, Romania. The aim of the study is to compare the students' opinions from the humanities specialization (Managerial and Administrative Assistance) and students from the economic specialization (Accounting and Business Informatics). The students answered questions focused on the educational and social sides. In order to answer some questions, students had to make an analysis of online learning versus traditional learning. The questions highlighted the need for students' IT knowledge for the optimal development of online education. From the answers, it is clear that it is necessary for students to have digital skills.

The SWOT analysis shows the following aspects:

Strengths: Participations (81% of respondents indicated that they attended courses more during this period); time (an advantage of online learning presented by 24 % of respondents and 16 % replied that they no longer have to commute, which involves financial benefits); motivation (44% of students responded that time allocated to the individual study was higher).

Weaknesses: Social interaction (28% of students presented this as a disadvantage of online learning); lack of interest (12% replied that they could not concentrate on teachers' instructions if they were not in the classrooms).

Opportunities: Technical advantages (62% replied that their Internet browsing knowledge was useful, and 52% replied that their PC operating knowledge was useful; getting a job during school placement is presented as an online learning advantage for 15 % of them).

Threats: Technical difficulties (15% responded that a weak Internet connection represents one disadvantage).

In the present scenario of business and economy information and communication technologies are crucial for the success of the organization. Web 2.0 technologies may play a crucial role in improving collaboration and communication with the use of social media, blogs, wikis, forums, virtual worlds and so on. Due to tremendous growth in Internet technologies in the last couple of years now Web information has been transformed to shared and collaborative web. This has happened because of the emergence of social networking websites like Facebook and LinkedIn. Collaborative efforts like Wikipedia have made the web the basis of the world's knowledge-sharing, and collaborative computing platform. Before 10-15 years from now business houses were not so keen to use web technology in their day-to-day routine work but now in the present scenario, the knowledge of the web is almost essential in any business house. With the use of ICT and Web 2.0 as the main tools for communication and interaction, organisations are also contributing to the sustainability of the environment by utilizing optimal IT resources in a more efficient way. Enterprise 2.0 is the term for the technologies and business practices that liberate the workforce from the constraints of legacy communication and productivity tools like email. Enterprise 2.0 is bringing Web 2.0 into the office and thus it integrates the social and collaborative tools of Web 2.0 into the office environment. Ultimately this brings beneficial changes in the business process and communication. Extensive use of Web 2.0 with the implementation of Enterprise 2.0 will definitely improve the work culture and contribute to a sustainable planet.  Modernization in our society and a more dynamic way of working is inconceivable without the use of the latest digital information communication technology (ICT) systems. Government digital agendas and business activities worldwide want to promote digital transformation in businesses and public administrations while acknowledging the digital changes taking place in society and the need to integrate information security (IS). Although information communication technology (ICT) shapes our lives, we tend to have an insufficient knowledge of the risks involved, of IS, and of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); this is compounded by carelessness in handling data and insufficient IS awareness (ISA). Backed by a clear conceptual approach, information security awareness training (ISAT) is also essential for everyone. However, classical training—merely knowledge-based—is currently failing to produce long-term results. Psychologically based research shows that a systemic approach might be helpful. This is where analog game-based learning (GBL) comes into play. This updated article documents a variety of learning materials for different target groups and associated training experiences from the last decade.

Empowering the Invisible: Unveiling the Women Homeworkers in Thailand’s Digital Economy | Chapter 2 | An Overview on Business, Management and Economics Research Vol. 9

 The study examines issues of gender relations and the use of ICTs for economic activities among women homeworkers in Thailand’s digital economy. Home-based work (subcontracted work to be done at home) is widespread in all regions of Thailand. Most homeworkers use their houses as the workplace for producing textiles and garments, wood products, basketry, artificial flower making, food processing, leather goods and plastics, metal products and jewelry, and then deliver them to the employers or business mediators. This is not the same as production for direct sale. In 2007, the National Statistical Office (NSO) reported that out of the 249,290 households, there were 440,251 people earning their livelihoods through homeworking. Of this number, 337,526 or slightly more than three quarters of them were women and 102,725 were men similar to NSO, 2019 found more than half of Thai women are under the informal economy track. This study builds on previous research conducted in 2006 on the status of women homeworkers in Thailand and their use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to promote economic empowerment and generate new income opportunities. Social and community development that allows for participatory approaches to local development and management, including the revival and transmission of Thai cultural diversity, such as way of life, customs, values and local wisdom. Since 2006, Thailand has undergone numerous social, economic, and political changes. Acknowledging the problems homeworkers face, in 2010, the Thai Parliament passed the Homeworkers Protection Act B.E. 2553 and a social protection policy came into force in 2011 till currently. The law mandates fair wages, including equal pay for men and women doing the same job. Even though this Act is in effect, most homeworkers are still not aware of their legal rights and keep working under unfair conditions. The enabling and disabling environments for women who work from home will be discussed in this research study, along with the awareness and capacity of these individuals to improve their circumstances, as well as their access to and management of resources for using ICT to grow their businesses in Thailand's rapidly expanding digital economy. It will also look at how women use ICT for gender equality, as well as how these initiatives affect gender governance and women's economic empowerment.

Trends in Emerging Technologies in the Cannabis Industry in South Africa | Chapter 6 | Managing Higher Education and Enterprises in Developing Countries Beyond COVID-19: Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Business and Management Dynamics

 This chapter focuses on analysing the trends, developments and innovations of emerging technologies in the South African cannabis industry.


The South African government has identified cannabis as one of the country`s strategic sectors for development and commercialisation in order to increase economic production, investment, diversification of the economy, poverty alleviation and job creation. Globally, emerging technologies are playing an important role in the cannabis industry in various ways, including monitoring of cannabis plants, and compliance and regulation. Outside of Africa, there is a considerable amount of literature on the potential, role and impact of emerging technologies on the cannabis industry. However, in Africa, there is a lack of research studies on emerging technologies and cannabis. The research gathers data from existing sources such as books, journals, reports, websites, databases, cases studies and other published materials to provide a landscape analysis of ICT-based emerging technologies being promoted, developed, deployed, adopted or used in the South African cannabis industry. Preliminary findings reveal that various types and examples of ICT-based emerging technologies targeted at different cannabis value chain stages exist in the country. This research is still at the preliminary stages; hence the author has presented the preliminary literature and preliminary findings. The author will conduct further literature analysis. The author will gather more data and information on the topic.

Application of ICT (Information Communication and Technology) towards Transformation of Regional Bureaucracy | Chapter 10 | Advances and Challenges in Science and Technology Vol. 9

 This stage uses a case study of the application of ICT in Sidenreng Rappang Regency and allure effects on administrative transformation. The e-government policy in Sidenreng Rappang Regency in addition to the development of data processing will give a new face and hope for the production of better governance. Digital metamorphosis approaches outside the public sector are changeful citizens' anticipations of governments' ability to deliver extreme-value, actual-time digital duties. In addition to promoting campaigns, digital management should within financial means actively engage all by promoting the use of facts, communication, and technology (ICT) in a range of public aids, particularly taking everything in mind the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapid incident of technology has altered the paradigm of public service and government, from being hierarchical to open and flexible, for fear that it has an impact on administrative culture and the acceleration of administrative transformation in administration. The results showed that the application of the ICT method aims to improve public aids that are fast, cheap and effective, effective, and responsive. Besides that, the request of the ICT system can also generate a transparent administration, so that government ventures can be accessed by all taxpayers. In other studies that are concentrated on efforts to achieve see-through government. The main factor that affects is project-formed activities, place structural officials have extreme responsiveness for fear that they can have a positive influence on bureaucratic shift.

Libraries: A Hub of Technology Enhanced Learning Space | Chapter 6 | Research Highlights in Language, Literature and Education Vol. 3

 The aim of this study is to build a discovery teaching module on chemical balance to help senior high school students raise their critical thinking abilities. The discovery learning piece with a scientific approach is outfitted with education materials that contain provocation, where students are popularized to the problem, surpassed to solving the problem orderly. Teachers act as facilitators and motivators of pupil learning. This research was based on an remark that was found that the learning demand was not yet optimum to train students to think precariously. This study falls under the category of research and development that engages the Plomp Model, which has three stages: preliminary research, prototyping, and judgment. The assessment phase was completed activity in two schools, with students of everywhere academic ability sharing. The instrument used was a fault-finding thinking test consisting of nine essay questions. The results showed that create discovery knowledge module on chemical evenness was effective to improve fault-finding thinking skills, two together for students with everywhere academic ability.

The Readiness of Preschool Teachers in Integrating 4th Industrial Revolution Skills in Classroom: A Recent Study | Chapter 01 | Current Research in Language, Literature and Education Vol. 3

 In keeping with the Fourth Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0), the use of information, communication, and technology (ICT) in education improves educational quality. There is an increasing demand for ICT to be employed in the workplace. In keeping with the IR4.0 vision, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is a curriculum that prepares students for the job. The employment of ICT approaches in the classroom to cater to TVET programmes is becoming increasingly vital as the demand for ICT competent people grows. It is critical to introduce technology into the daily life of future generations from a young age. The goal of this study was to see if preschool teachers were ready to integrate IR4.0 abilities into the classroom. The respondents for this study were 302 preschool instructors in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, who completed a survey circulated via social media. The Cronbach's Alpha value was utilised to verify that the instrument's reliability was greater than 0.6 for each instrument element. Likert scales of 4 and 5 points were also employed in this study. Preschool instructors in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, had a favourable attitude toward the use of ICT in the classroom (M = 3.11, SD = 1.36), according to the findings of this study. Preschool instructors had strong ICT skill levels (M = 2.89, SD = 1.45). ICT's efficiency with preschoolers was moderately high (M = 3.27, SD = 1.24). The percentage of teachers who encountered difficulties when utilising ICT was moderate (M = 2.44, SD = 1.28). Finally, the outcomes of this study revealed that preschool instructors in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, are prepared to use ICT in the classroom to prepare for IR4.0 needs.

Investigating the Problems Facing Computerization of Records in Secondary Schools in JOS, Nigeria | Chapter 5 | New Visions in Science and Technology Vol. 2

 The study investigates the problems that have occurred as a result of the computerization of records in a few Jos secondary schools, as well as the vulnerability of the current manual data processing to human errors. Observations performed during physical visits to the schools' computer laboratories, questionnaires, and personal interviews with chosen school Information and Communication Technology (ICT) staff were used to gather data. Those who took part in the study included administrators and information technology workers. Seven private schools, one Federal Government College, one Federal Command Secondary School, one State Government-owned school, and one Federal Government College were used in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. The most significant hindrance to the computerization of academic records in schools, according to the research, is a lack of finance. The purchase of proprietary School Management application packages is heavily influenced by funding.

A Powerful Blend of Teaching – Learning Process: Constructivism and Intigration of ICT | Chapter 3 | Selected Topics in Humanities and Social Sciences Vol. 3

 Learning takes place in contexts, according to constructivism, whereas technology refers to the designs and situations that engage learners. The research was based on two assumptions. The first is about how ICT-enhanced constructivist learning is now being implemented in the classroom.
