An Overview on Natural Antioxidants Derived from Food Sources | Chapter 11 | Advanced Concepts in Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 2

As per current reports, our human cellsbelong to aerobic environments are exposed to damage from reactive oxygen metabolites (ROMs) that are efficiently neutralized by the robust antioxidant scheme present in the human body. Antioxidants are chemical compound that exhibit the ability to adjourn or reduce oxidative damage to a particular molecule. Antioxidants are abundantly present in unrefined sources to a degree plants, food matters, etc. Several such beginnings of antioxidants include Vitamin E, Vitamin C, carotenoids, glutathione, and polyphenols (thymol, eugenol, vanillin, guaiacol, menthol, sesamol, and umbelliferon). In the review article, it was thoroughly examined for those antioxidants using for administration of various human ailments. Recently, many efforts are in preparation by scientists to identify those antioxidants that grant permission be proven as potential drug agents for the situation of various disorders. In this framework, phenolic and polyphenolic substances have happened commonly utilized for the pronounced purposes. This article established a literature survey interprets many natural antioxidants that were took advantage of for anti-aging belongings, immunity boosters, reconstructing nerve function as well as preservatives in many cases.

Bioelectromechanical Properties of Alginate through Piezoresponse Force Microscopy: An Insight with a Computer Simulation with Free Radicals | Chapter 2 | New Trends in Physical Science Research Vol.7

The alginate biopolymer from Tropicalgin C302245 was studied using computer models, scanning electron microscopy, powder X-rays, infrared spectroscopy, and piezoresponse force microscope imaging. Local piezoresponse force microscopy pictures in the out of plane mode show possible ferroelectric zones, which are confirmed by second harmonic generation analysis. Alginate powder is composed of cristobalite-like diatom frustules, amorphous silica, and chitin. Computer simulations using the models MM+ and PM3 demonstrate how the self-assembly of alginate molecules raises the molecular collective dipole moment, boosting polarisation, and provide an explanation for the experimental observations. Initial free radical simulations reveal that the alginate biopolymer has poorer thermodynamic stability, which reduces hydrogen bonding and, consequently, ferroelectric characteristics. Alginate's molecular characteristics may provide new opportunities for organic green technology.

Phytochemical Evaluation and Pharmacological Screening of Coccinia grandis | Chapter 06 | Research Aspects in Biological Science Vol. 1

Traditional medicine has employed Coccinia grandis to treat a variety of ailments. The goal of this study is to look at the phytochemical ingredients and pharmacological effects of fruit extracts from Coccinia grandis. C. grandis fruit extract was tested for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in vitro. Alkaloids, carbohydrates, phytosterols, resins, tannins, flavonoids, proteins, and diterpenes were found in the phtyochemical analysis. Methanol>ethanol>petroleum ether>chloroform>n-hexane was shown to have the highest antioxidant activity. In an anti-inflammatory investigation, n-hexane and petroleum ether extracts had the most inhibitory efficacy, while chloroform extracts had the least, followed by ethanol and methanol extracts.

Application of Greener Approach for the Synthesis of Benzopinacol by Benzophenone Using an Alternate Solvent Ethanol | Chapter 13 | Current Perspectives on Chemical Sciences Vol. 1

Green chemistry, also called sustainable chemistry, is an area of chemistry and chemical engineering
focused on the designing of products and processes that minimize or eliminate the use and
generation of hazardous substances. A synthesis of benzopinacol from benzophenone is carried out
using ethanol as a solvent. This ia a free radical reaction and reduction of benzophenone occurs by
sunlight via UV radiation. Benzopinacol is the catalyst for the formation of unsaturated polyesters. It is
also used as an organic synthesis intermediate and as an initiator of polymerization by free radicals.
Characterization of Benzopinacol was done by using spectroscopic technique like IR,NMR etc.
Results positively show that solvent ethyl alcohol can be used as an alternative for photoreduction of
benzophenone in case of non availability of isopropyl alcohol.
