Post-Harvest Management of Fruits and Vegetables | Chapter 9 | Current Perspectives in Agriculture and Food Science Vol. 7

 Fruit and vegetable harvest management must be done well in order to maximize quality, reduce post-harvest losses, and increase shelf life. The reasons of post-harvest losses, different post-harvest technologies, and treatments meant to reduce losses and maintain the quality of harvested product. Physiological changes, mechanical damage, incorrect handling and transportation, unfavorable weather conditions, and pest infestations are some of the causes of post-harvest losses. Many post-harvest technologies and treatments have been developed to address these issues. These include the use of technologies to delay senescence and decay, controlled atmosphere storage to control oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, and pre-cooling techniques to lower temperature and slow down physiological processes. Post-harvest procedures including washing, sorting, grading, and waxing also aid in lowering microbial contamination and extending shelf life. Additionally, environmentally friendly ways to maintain freshness while minimizing the impact on the environment are provided by sustainable packaging. Real-time monitoring of the supply chain for environmental conditions and produce quality makes it possible to take prompt action to reduce losses and improve storage conditions.

Banana: Benefits, Cultivation, Post-Harvest and Processed, in Indonesia 2nd Edition | Book Publisher International

Banana (Musa sp) agribusiness development opportunities in Indonesia are still wide open. Almost all parts of the plant have benefits for our daily lives. The leaves can be used as wrappers to which is environmentally friendly. The midrib of the stem can be used as a source of animal feed in the dry season, where forage sources are very limited and difficult to obtain. Considering its benefits and potential, bananas are suitable for an agricultural business to increase farmers' household income. Banana development in Indonesia must have an impact on the growth and development of agro industry in rural areas, which in turn has a real impact on increasing farmer household incomes and community welfare. Therefore, it is necessary to have a guide for farmers/communities for effective and efficient banana cultivation/farming. Study on Evaluation of the Efficacy of Different Fungicides against Fusarium musae, a Fruit Rot Disease of Banana | Chapter 10 | New Visions in Biological Science Vol. 4

 Due to the paucity of research on fusarium fruit rot diseases of banana and their management in India, it is thought worthwhile to conduct research on fusarium fruit rot diseases of banana and their management in south Gujarat in order to extend the shelf life of banana fruits and reduce losses caused by post-harvest diseases. As a result, the current investigation was launched. In this study, nine fungicides were tested against F. musae using the poison food technique on PDA medium at various concentrations. Mancozeb 75 WP at 2500ppm, azoxystrobin (20%) + difenoconazole (12.5%) at 1000ppm, and propiconazole (25 EC) at 500ppm and 1000ppm were found to be the most superior because they completely inhibited F. musae mycelial growth In vivo, the lowest fusarium fruit rot severity was found with propiconazole (25 EC) at 1000ppm in pre (6.61 percent) and post-inoculation (6.7 percent) treatments at 8 days after inoculation in pre (6.61 percent) and post-inoculation (6.7 percent) treatments at 8 days after inoculation. At 8 days after inoculation, azoxystrobin (20%) + difenoconazole (12.5%) at 500ppm and chlorothalonil (75 WP) at 2500ppm were shown to be the least efficient in decreasing the severity of fusarium fruit rot in pre and post inoculation treatments.

Determination of Post-Harvest Microbial Deterioration of Tomato (Lycopersiconesculentum) Fruits| Chapter 5| Recent Progress in Plant and Soil Research Vol. 2

 This study looked into the microbiological, chemical, and environmental factors that contribute to the rotting of this vital vegetable. From rotting tomato fruits, a total of eight microorganisms (fungi and bacteria) were recovered. These isolates were utilised to conduct pathogenicity tests on healthy fruits, both wounded and unwounded, and it was discovered that fungi cause more degradation than bacteria. Temperature and milton were tested to see how they affected the rotting of the meat.fruits. The rate of deterioration appears to grow as the temperature rises. The use of milton was found to be useful in reducing rotting. The amount of ascorbic acid in fresh and decaying fruits was also tested. Ascorbic acid levels decreased as degradation progressed, according to the findings.
