Correlation and Path Analysis Studies in Groundnut under Different Dates of Sowing | Chapter 11 | Research Advances and Challenges in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 5

Research on the genotypic and phenotypic associations among agricultural crop traits can be used to design, evaluate, and develop selection criteria for desirable traits. Yield is a complex quantitative trait largely influenced by the environment. Direct selection for grain yield is less efficient in improving groundnut productivity. The selection efficiency can be enhanced by exploiting the relationship between yield and its related traits. In the present study strong positive association was noticed between pod yield per plant and kernel yield per plant, oil yield per plant and significant and negative association with late leaf spot severity and rust incidence irrespective of the environments. Pod yield was also correlated with 100-kernel weight, plant height and oil content in environment III. The magnitude and direct association of pod yield with other characters varied from environment to environment. Inter correlation estimates for yield components revealed that plant height, 100-kernel weight, kernel yield per plant, oil yield per plant, late leaf spot severity, number of matured pods per plant, harvest index and plant height were significantly associated with one another and also with pod yield per plant which indicated that these characters were important components for improvement of pod yield in groundnut. This indicated that selection of genotypes based on oil yield per plant and kernel yield per plant is advantageous than the other characters. The direct effect of kernel yield per plant in all the three environments followed by shelling percentage, rust incidence, oil yield per plant, number of branches per plant in environment I and plant height in environment I and III. The direct effect of other characters fluctuated between negative and positive values indicating the influence of environment on these traits.

Studies on Correlation and Path Analysis in Medium Duration Rice Varieties of Andhra Pradesh, India | Chapter 6 | Emerging Issues in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 2

 The present study was attended to investigate the correlation and way analysis in twenty-five medium event (120-125 day) rice types (Oryza sativa L.). Rice (Oryza sativa L) is a critical necessary cereal crop that feeds more than half of the planet's population. The personality association of yield attributing characteristics revealed a important positive relationship 'tween plant height, 1000 children weight, and panicle length and seed yield per hectare. As a result, selecting for these traits can advance yield. In the current study, a high genetic cooperative of variation was noticed for number of seed/panicle, along with extreme heritability and genetic advance, displaying that there is room for bettering of the trait through natural selection. Following panicle length, 1000 source weight had defeater in competition positive direct effect on yield, according to a course coefficient study. The characters 1000 seed pressure and panicle length had a extreme direct effect as well as a positive partnership. Therefore, choosing these figures could result in an bettering in yield and yield components.

Phenotypic Correlation Coefficient and Path Analysis in Rice (Oryza sativa L.): An Overview | Chapter 4 | Emerging Issues in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 1

 Food freedom as a major concern has drawn general attention. The arising issues of varying dimensions have formal new challenges to agricultural physicists to produce even more under shrinking money to feed the rising population. Evolution of new cultivar as per need demands a continuous work, where the selection process includes identification of suitable genotypic and phenotypic characteristics to breed a new cultivar. The statistical forms like correlation coefficient and course analysis are occasionally employed to ascertain the friendship and contribution of each trait that guides the researcher in reaching at a desired conclusion. The present item has briefly discussed the meaning of using these finishes and its techniques. An attempt has happened made commotion an overview exercise on the work stated by various workers on edible grain established under various methods using the same tool and technique and present it in a short manner. Straw yield/ biomass, harvest index, total and attention bearing tillers, filled grains per panicle and panicle distance are the most likely characteristics. However, in some cases unfilled grains have further shown positive equivalence with piece yield. Head recovery, hulling portion, kernel breadth and extension ratio are few of the qualitative traits that maybe considered. The direct union with grain yield was more conspicuous with harvest index, straw/ biomass yield, portion fertility and days to 50% blooming. The phenotypic traits involved and their union with economic yield, will help to plan the breeding and country strategy for higher output per unit region per unit time.

Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis in Mung Bean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek)] | Chapter 3 | Research Highlights in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 9

 Correlation and way analysis was acted using sixteen genotypes of soiled bean for eight component types including source yield. Field experimental was spent money at Agricultural Research Station, Fatehpur, Shekhawati, Sikar (SKN Agriculture University, Jobner) Rajasthan (India) under a randomized block design with three replications; note was recorded on ten plants were picked at random each plot for plant height, pod length, number of children per pod, test weight, children yield per plot and seed yield per hectors inasmuch as for days to 50% flowering and days to adulthood data were written on whole plot basis with the genotypes of mung kernel. At both the genotypic and phenotypic levels, skilled was a positive partnership among plant crest, pod length, and test pressure and seed yield. Days to blooming, days to maturity, and the number of children per pod all correlated otherwise with children yield at both the genotypic and phenotypic levels. Path study revealed a positive and extreme direct effect of days to maturity, pod distance, and seed yield per bully, as well as a negative and extreme direct effect of days to flowering, plant crest, and test weight, in addition to indirect belongings of other component types on seed yield per plot by way of these characters. As a result, these characteristics should be prioritised when selecting genotypes for unclean bean crop bettering.

Influence of Sowing Time on the Quality and Micronutrient Contents of Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L): A Recent Study | Chapter 7 | Research Highlights in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 3

 Background Wheat is a chief crop that feeds millions of people, but its productivity is significantly reduced under high temperatures. Maintaining grain quality under climate change is critical for mortal nutrition, end- use functional parcels and commodity value.

objects The current study aimed at assessing the performance of 48 genotypes of wheat under two surroundingsi.e timely and late sown conditions, for assessment of mean performance, variability, correlation, and path analysis of quality and micronutrient traits.

Research Methodology The exploration was carried out in the experimental area of the Wheat and Barley Section, Department of Genetics and Plant parentage, CCSHAU, Hisar during 2019- 20. The assessment was done for 48 wheat genotypes under two temperature situations( timely and late sown terrain) in RBD design with three replications.

Results Heat stress caused a significant reduction in grain yield, grain appearance score, hectoliter weight, sedimentation value, iron and zinc content whereas an increase in crude protein, total gluten content, wet gluten content and total answerable sugar. In the present study, total answerable sugar, wet gluten content, total gluten content showed the loftiest values of variability, heritability and inheritable advance as of mean and therefore are the most important quantitative traits to be taken into consideration for effective selection. A positive correlation was seen between grain yield and hectoliter weight in timely sown terrain. Path analysis revealed the loftiest positive direct effect for hectoliter weight and sedimentation value in timely sown condition, while sedimentation value and iron content for late sown terrain and therefore in the process of selection important attention should be given to them as these characters are helpful for circular selection.

Conclusion A negative association between high yield and good quality should be an important target for the coming parentage sweats or to determine a quality parameter that performs constantly in both surroundings.

Association and Path Analysis of Yield and Its Component Traits for Yield Maximization in Green Gram: A Recent Study | Chapter 15 | Current Topics in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 8

In ten genetically diverse genotypes of green gramme (Vigna radiata L.) and their 24 F2 (segregating) populations, an analysis was done to determine the correlation coefficients among thirteen quantitative traits and to examine the direct and indirect effects of various yield contributing traits on grain yield. The results of the association study show that there is a highly significant and positive correlation between grain yield per plant and traits like number of days until flowering, number of pods per cluster, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, and biological yield per plant (g), suggesting that these traits may be improved simultaneously. However, yield per plant for parents showed a significant negative correlation with primary branches per plant and harvest index at both the genotypic and phenotypic levels. The harvest index showed a negative connection with most of the features at both the genotypic and phenotypic levels. According to route analysis, biological yield per plant, harvest index, and seeds per pod all had a significant direct impact in the intended direction. Biological yield per plant, harvest index, seeds per pod, and clusters per plant may all be improved to maximise seed output per plant. High yielding cultivars can be created by using hybridization followed by direct and indirect selection for these features.
