Improving the Building Energy Efficiency and Thermal Comfort through the Design of Walls in Compressed Earth Blocks of Agricultural and Biopolymer Residues Masonry: A Recent Study | Chapter 5 | Research Developments in Science and Technology Vol. 9

In this study, the effect of wall building materials on hygrothermal behaviour and energy efficiency in homes is examined. Nowadays, the majority of individuals make significant financial investments to upgrade the interior conditions of their buildings in order to live in a posh setting. Three different types of construction materials were used to produce the building design in the Design Builder interface for the wall: CSEB of fonio straw and Shea butter cakes, cement blocks, and cut laterite blocks. The total amount of energy needed for building cooling was calculated using dynamic modelling with Energy Plus software. We conducted a simulation utilising the weather conditions in Ouagadougou City, and we found that the thermal behaviour of the housing is affected by

in earth-based simulations, the wall. The results show that, in comparison to homes with a cement or cut laterite block masonry wall, the number of warm thermal discomfort hours and cooling energy loads are decreased in homes with a CSEB of fonio straw and Shea butter cakes by an average of 10.60 percent and 93.86 percent, respectively. The earth-based influence of this wall allows for an average interior temperature and indoor operating temperature of 28.64°C and 25.82°C, respectively, on the inside environment. The average inside temperature peaks dampening at 6.54°C (i.e. 22.83 percent). Because of this, these CSEB walls provide a useful contribution to the creation of sustainable homes in a hot climate.

Studies on Effect of Culture on Residential Housing Satisfaction in Ikorodu Neighbourhoods of Lagos State, Nigeria | Chapter 6 | Selected Topics in Humanities and Social Sciences Vol. 3

 Residents of Ikorodu's core traditional communities disapprove of the statement that culture and housing satisfaction are incompatible during annual cultural festivals. Despite their intense belief in traditional customs, Ikorodu's core traditional neighbourhoods continue to grow on a regular basis. As a result, this article examines the impact of traditional cultures on housing satisfaction in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The typical core During annual cultural festivals, residents of Ikorodu's primary traditional communities disagree with the premise that culture and housing satisfaction are incompatible. Ikorodu's main traditional neighbourhoods continue to grow on a regular basis, despite their strong conviction in traditional customs. As a result, the impact of traditional cultures on housing satisfaction in Ikorodu, Lagos State, is examined in this research. The standard core Findings revealed that during the period of annual festivals in the neighbourhood, a very serious negative effect is felt on people's income class, gender freedom of movement, commercial property occupation, and people and vehicle movement, but a mild or no negative effect is felt on residents' religion and age.

Total Shading Strategies in Sustainable Housing Development in Oman | Chapter 9 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 15

 In hot-arid environments, total shade was introduced as one of the most important variables for increasing the thermal performance of buildings and their surroundings. The Eco-House at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) was used as a case study, and the results were incorporated into a prototype housing project in Oman. The Eco-House project was designed and overseen by a group of academics and students from the college of engineering, led by the author. The University Projects Department constructed it on the university's campus. The theoretical foundations, design, and implementation of the entire shading system employed in the project are presented in this article.


It was made of a light-weight, low-cost outer shell that wrapped around the building's walls and roof, providing complete shade for the structure and its surroundings. Graphical shading charts and physical models were used to evaluate the shading elements in the system. To choose the best kind for each orientation, shading efficiencies were calculated and compared. The Eco-House discoveries were further improved such that they could be applied to a shaded prototype dwelling project. The shade was achieved through reciprocal shadowing of the dwelling masses, which was subsequently supplemented with a light-weight secondary roof shell and landscape components.

 In reality, housing is more expensive than many consumer goods. It is extremely productive because it is thought to account for over 75% of household wealth. However, it swiftly sinks into a sea of inconsistency caused by imported knowledge clashing with users' local knowledge, practises, and traditions. As a result, even if housing tries to satisfy the needs of current users, it becomes exceedingly difficult to fulfil the demands of future users. This is the most important part of the paper. As a result, the study examines the components of housing infrastructure as well as the obstacles that consumers will face in satisfying their future needs. It draws its conclusions and recommendations by focusing on the long-term viability of housing's physical, cultural, and productive roles.

Discussion on Neoliberalism & the Marketisation of Social Housing: A Study of Four Countries | Chapter 14 | New Horizons in Education and Social Studies Vol. 9

 The emergence of Neoliberalism as the dominant global political and economic paradigm since the late twentieth century has had an influence on the social housing sectors in various countries. This philosophy has brought market pressures to bear on the provision of social housing, which has traditionally been synonymous with providing a service to meet a societal need. This chapter builds on an earlier paper that examined the experiences of four countries in order to better understand the effect of marketisation on their social housing sectors. The countries chosen have a number of historical similarities. Despite the fact that each has developed within its own context, they share certain commonalities. The Netherlands, the United States of America (USA), Australia, and the United Kingdom are among the countries examined (UK). Text has been added to update the study's specifics, including the conclusion, which assesses how market forces in housing have been aligned with the underlying thrust of a Neoliberal agenda to reduce the state's position in these countries. The government's role in providing social services The global effect of Neoliberalism on their political and economic structures has resulted in a reduction in housing in various countries. The essence of such transition must be viewed in the light of each country's historical and organisational context.
