The interior design industry is advancing, driven by innovative materials that enhance both visual appeal and functionality, while also reshaping the economics of design projects. Evolving sustainability goals and heightened post-pandemic expectations are driving the prominence of materials such as antimicrobial coatings, recycled composites, and smart surfaces in interior spaces. This chapter examines the impact of these new advanced materials on budget decisions in design practice. It explores the increasing understanding of such materials, their sensed benefits, and the economic trade-offs associated with their application. A mixed-methods approach was used in a literature review, proximate pricing analysis, and professional understandings to evaluate how material innovation influences budget planning, client perception, and adoption rates. Special attention is given to cost variations across key design categories such as flooring, wall treatments, cabinetry, and surface finishes. While research findings indicate application and knowledge of sustainable and intelligent materials, their application in projects remains limited due to higher initial costs, limited market access, and a lack of standardised pricing models. Long-term benefits and inclusion in interior projects, such as improved durability, reduced maintenance, and enhanced environmental performance, present strong incentives. This study concludes that the gap between innovation and affordability needs greater cost transparency between designers and clients hands-on demonstration of material value. It supports a value-based approach to material selection in modern interior environments, ensuring that both economic viability and design quality are considered. It is recommended that policymakers and institutions actively support the integration of advanced materials in sustainable interior design by providing financial incentives, implementing targeted training programs, and establishing clear regulatory frameworks.

Use of Cochlear Implant among People of Jos, North Central Nigeria: Societal and Financial Challenges | Chapter 10 | Current Progress in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

 This episode examined the challenges of Cochlear implants (CI) users in Jos, Nigeria. Cochlear implants (CIs) have convinced to be a useful situation option for things with severe-to-deep hearing loss by providing enhanced access to one's encircling auditory environment. CIs disagree from traditional audile amplification by providing information to the hearing system via energetic stimulation. Access to cochlear implants in underdeveloped countries is not without challenges. The study comprises 41 accused, 16 out of 30 Cochlear Implant consumers in Jos responded to the questionnaire. Thirteen (13) folks of the cochlear implant us- ers and twelfth (12) ENT personnel doctors and nurses formed the sample breadth. CICQ questionnaire was used to wrest data from the respondents. A plain percentage was used to analyze the dossier. The results revealed that 62.5% of the CI users lived beneath 100,000 Naira (USD244) as their yearly income. Cochlear Implant appurtenances such as batteries, extrinsic devices, cords, and services or repairs are very high-priced yet they don’t last long. We also should travel a long distance to access winding implant mapping that costs us a portion in terms of transport fares. The majority (93.75%) have harsh to profound hearing deficit bilaterally but used CI unilaterally.  The cost of CI accessories and presidency, as well as their accessibility, have an affect the economic, public, and psychological lives of CI users and their classification members. The demand for CI in their facility is completely strong, and managing CI consumers is very difficult due to lacking people, capital, and equipment, according to ENT organization. We advised convenient approach to CIs, their reasonable accessories and aids, effective ENT staff preparation, and well-equipped healing facilities.
