Role of Different Enzymes in Nectar to Honey Transformations in Indigenous Rockbee, Apis dorsata F. | Chapter 7 | Cutting Edge Research in Biology Vol. 6

Enzymes form complete part and play decisive duty in biological absorption and systems. The present studies inquire on the role of enzymes namely., invertase, amylase, glucose oxidase and catalase in honey-honey conversion in indigenous rock honey-making Apis dorsata F   during February, 2022 to January 2023. Five stages in metamorphosis of honey from honey of flower comprises decorative nectar (fn), sweetheart crop of foragers (hf), honey crop of building bees (hh), unsealed honey containers (uh) and sealed sweetheart cells (sh). Invertase levels in fn and sh containers were (0.00ml) and (42.40 ml), individually. Similarly, amylase was lowest in the fn (0.00ml) and capital in the sh (16.01 ml). Glucose oxidase levels in fn and sh cells were (0.00ml) and (6.68 ml), individually. Catalase was lowest in the fn (0.00ml) and chief in the sh (4.96 ml). The analysis of difference of invertase and amylase was significant at 1% level (p<0.01), inasmuch as glucose oxidase and catalase was not meaningful at 1% level (p<0.01).The sources of all enzymes, in accordance with the finding, are about the hypopharyngeal, post-cerebral, thoracic, labial, and mandibular glands of foragers and building bees.

Carbohydrates| Chapter 10 | New Innovations in Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol.8

Carbohydrates are organic molecules that exist naturally in plants and animals. Animals and plants use them as a source of energy. Carbohydrates can be found in one form or another in every natural product we consume. Carbohydrates include molecules such as glucose, fructose, cane sugar, starch, and cellulose, which are extensively dispersed in plants and are made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. The role of carbohydrates in plants and animals is discussed in this chapter. The taxonomy and structure of carbohydrates are explained. It is also suggested that glucose and fructose have a ring shape. Epimer, mutarotation, inversion, and reducing and non-reducing sugars are all well-defined concepts. The reactions of glucose with acids, bases, and oxidising reagents are also well discussed.

Investigation of Enzyme Activities during Composting of Soiled Cotton Waste: Recent Developments | Chapter 1 | Current Strategies in Biotechnology and Bioresource Technology Vol. 2

Huge amount of soiled cotton waste is being produced by utilization of sanitary napkins by the women who have attained puberty. An attempt has been made to manage these wastes through composting and vermicomposting. Enzyme activities were studied during the composting and vermicomposting of soiled sanitary napkins. The highest protease (354.356 µg/g/hr), urease (0.104 µg/g/hr), amylase (119.08 µg/g/hr) and cellulase (170.13 µg/g/hr) activity was observed in vermicomposting sets. There was significant increase (p<0.001) in the enzyme activity in the vermicomposting and composting sets as compared to control.
