Applications of Silk in the Future of Medicine - A Brief Review | Chapter 1 | Current Innovations in Chemical and Materials Sciences Vol. 4

 Fabric a natural protein of insect inception is produced by miscellaneous breeds of silkworm. Fibroin and Sericin are the two major proteins of fabric and has wide applications as biomaterials. Accompanying the diversity and control of diameter, structure and chemistry, recombinant fabric proteins can be utilized for miscellaneous biomedical applications. Though fabric is used as a suture material in cure and dentistry since time immemorial, to some extent light is thrown on allure regenerative potential in dentistry especially periodontics. Therefore this review focus on the beneficial facets of silk and allure proteins in tissue engineering.
