Elements for the Modelling of the Thermal Process in Heating Furnaces for Steel Forming | Chapter 10 | Theory and Applications of Engineering Research Vol. 5

In the present paper, by “modelling of thermal process” will be understood the thermal techniques modelling, applied to the heating of steel billets in a large scale, in view of processing by forming. These technologies are correlated with the particularities of the thermal aggregates, having as main objective the reducing of energy consumptions and the optimizing of the aggregate design. When heating the steel billets in view of processing by forming, the duration and the quality of heating are influenced by the modality that the billets are receiving the thermal flow. The reception of the thermal flow depends on the heated surface exposed to the thermal radiation in compliance with their position on the hearth of the heating aggregate. The present paper intends to establish some parameters in view of optimizing the heating process. A basic point of the work is also the determination of some components of a mathematical model for the proposed heating technology. The authors have in view the complexity of the technical evolutions of the furnaces.

Investigation on Poly(2-Oxybutane-1-yl(4-Oxynapthalene-1- yl)Sebacoylate Random Block Copolyester | Chapter 5 | Current Innovations in Chemical and Materials Sciences Vol. 4

Combination of random block copolymer i.e., Poly(2-oxybutane-1-yl(4-oxynapthalene-1- yl)Sebacoylate [PONS] was combined using 1,4-napthalenediol, 1, 2-butane diol and sebacoylchloride. Establishment of copolyester was confirmed using UV, FTIR, NMR ghostly techniques. Warm studies were carried out using TGA. Basic analysis and gel satiation chromatography further confirm the formations of the copolymer and the microscopic weight of the copolyester. The morphology of the copolyester was too characterized using SEM. The results of the review clearly spur the synthesis of such a thermally resistant copolyester in the field of copolyester for particular applications.

Determination of Physicochemical, Functional and Antioxidant Properties of Pigmented Rice| Chapter 8 | Current Perspectives in Agriculture and Food Science Vol. 2

Pigmented edible grain has a high antioxidant content, and allure properties aid in the expression of nutraceutical food products. This member aims to  determine  the physicochemical, working and antioxidant properties of ten tint Indonesian rice assortments - Merah Saleman, Mota, Beureum Taleus, Anak Doro M, Cempo Salamet, Ketan Putri, Ketan Hitam I, Ketan Hitam II, Gogo Niti II, and Care Hitam.  Except for crude fibre, there was a important difference in the physic features and proximate study of pigmented edible grain at p<0.05. The sample with rude amylose had the highest peak, trough, and last viscosities, but it also had rude pasting hotness.  The gelatinization enthalpy ranged 'tween 0.82 and 1.33 J/g, with the sample containing ultimate amylose having rude gelatinization peak.  The functional possessions of the water absorption index categorized from 4.22 - 7.63 g/g, and the water solubility index was between 3.62 - 7.40%, the lubricate absorption index varied from 0.88 - 1.36 g/g, while the lump power was middle from two points 5.31 - 8.42 g/g. Furthermore, the antioxidant properties of the samples calculated in terms of the phenolic content categorized from 2.17 - 10.60 mg GAE/g, the flavonoids varied from 0.43 - 2.31 mg QE/g and their endeavor used the stable 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydroxyl radicals. The total flavonoid content of the phenolic component was raise to be absolutely related to antioxidant endeavor. Finally, the ten pigmented edible grain samples demonstrated a diverse range of physicochemical, working, and antioxidant properties, making the samples acceptable for the development of a assortment of health-accompanying products.

Studies on Compatibilty of Rivaroxaban with Pharmaceutical Excipients Using DSC and FTIR Spectrophotometry | Chapter 10 | Challenges and Advances in Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 4

A potent oral anticoagulant, rivaroxaban (RN), was just recently created. It was the medication that was most frequently administered during the COVID-19 epidemic. This study aims to explore the compatibility of rivaroxaban with crospovidone, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, aerosil, HPMC K100 M, and croscarmellose sodium using a differential scanning calorimeter and an FTIR spectrophotometer. According to DSC thermograms of rivaroxaban and a physical combination of several pharmaceutical excipients, the drug transition temperature ranged from 224°C to 232°C. The FTIR plots showed that all of the chosen pharmaceutical excipients had wave numbers that matched to rivaroxaban. The DSC and FTIR analyses revealed that RN was not interfering with the selected pharmaceutical excipients and that it may be employed in future studies. According to the investigation's findings, these combinations are safe and can be employed in future research to create rivaroxaban-containing pharmaceutical formulations.

Effects of Thermal and Non -Thermal PreProcessing Methods on Physical Attributes of Jackbean (Canavalia ensiformis) Seed | Chapter 7 | Challenging Issues on Environment and Earth Science Vol. 6

On the physical properties of Jackbean (Canavalia ensiformis) seed, the impacts of thermal and non-thermal pre-processing procedures were investigated. Roasting and autoclaving as thermal pre-processing methods and sprouting as a non-thermal pre-processing method were used on jackbean seeds received from the germplasm unit of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. A digital venier calliper was used to measure length, width, and thickness, while a formular was used to calculate the sphericity index and the aspect ratio, which is the ratio of length and width. The results of physical characterization revealed that all of the pre-processing procedures studied have the seed's effects All of these metrics decreased in connection to roasting, save the sphericity index: length 19.00- 15.00 mm, breadth 13.00- 11.00 mm, thickness 10.75- 10.55 mm, and sphericity index 72.88- 80.20 percent. For all of the treatments used, the aspect ratio declined from 1.46 to 1.33 as pre-processing time increased. For the untreated seed, the kernel density (g/cm3), bulk density (g/cm3), and density ratio were 1.24, 0.73, and 0.59, respectively. However, following sprouting and autoclaving, the length increased from 19.00 to 24.00 mm, the width increased from 13.00 to 18.00 mm, and the thickness increased from 10.75 to 11.10 mm, while the sphericity index decreased from 72.88 to 67.46 percent. These outcomes are a crucial in the development of seed processing equipment, hence promoting the seed's industrial application. Other underutilised legumes on the point of extinction can benefit from these techniques.
