Targeting Chronic Oxidative Stress: Ozone Therapy as a Key Modulator in Restoring Redox Homeostasis | Chapter 5 | An Overview of Disease and Health Research Vol. 9

Chronic degenerative diseases—including cardiovascular disorders, type II diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and neurodegenerative conditions—constitute the leading causes of disability and mortality worldwide. These disorders share common pathogenic mechanisms, notably chronic inflammation and sustained oxidative stress, which are only partially addressed by conventional pharmacological therapies. Restoration of redox homeostasis, therefore, represents a critical unmet therapeutic objective.

This review examines integrative strategies aimed at modulating oxidative stress, including lifestyle interventions such as caloric restriction and regular physical exercise, as well as selected bioactive dietary compounds. While these approaches contribute to improved metabolic regulation and may enhance endogenous antioxidant defences, their efficacy is often limited by poor adherence, variable bioavailability, and modest or inconsistent clinical impact.

In contrast, particular emphasis is placed on controlled ozone therapy administered as major ozonated autohemotherapy, which uniquely exploits a hormetic mechanism to activate endogenous adaptive responses. When applied within a precisely defined therapeutic window, ozone does not act as a direct pharmacological agent but as a transient oxidative stimulus, generating secondary messenger molecules such as hydrogen peroxide and lipid-derived electrophiles. These signals activate key cytoprotective pathways, most notably the Nrf2-dependent phase II antioxidant and detoxification system, leading to enhanced redox balance, modulation of chronic inflammation, and improved tissue oxygen utilisation.

Unlike exogenous antioxidant supplementation, which primarily affects the extracellular compartment, ozone therapy induces an intracellular adaptive response by stimulating the body’s own defence systems. This mechanistic distinction may explain its broader and more sustained effects in chronic diseases characterised by progressive oxidative stress. Clinical observations suggest that, when integrated with standard medical treatments and applied before irreversible tissue damage occurs, ozone therapy may offer meaningful functional and symptomatic benefits.

Importantly, the translational relevance of redox-modulation therapies depends on the adoption of standardised clinical procedures, precise dosing protocols, and appropriate regulatory oversight to ensure safety, reproducibility and clinical validity. While emerging clinical evidence suggests that controlled ozone therapy may integrate conventional treatments in selected chronic degenerative conditions, further well-designed clinical trials and harmonised guidelines are required before broader clinical implementation.

Significance of Water for Foundation of Dissipative Regulation of a Living Organism | Chapter 3 | Advanced Research in Biological Science Vol. 9

Water regulates homeostasis and supports metabolism by maintaining the balance of “bound-free” water phases. Dissipative processes of self-organization occur in both living and non-living matter. The same laws govern living and non-living matter, but the mechanism of their manifestation is different. The distinctive feature of living matter is “functional information,” which is an attribute characteristic only of living matter. The ideas of synergetics of self-organization are widespread in modern science. On their basis, the unity of living and non-living nature and the unity of micro- and macrocosms are established—the unity of the two opposites of chaos and order. Functional information is a purposeful indication of the change in the structural-functional state of the living matter. Feedback plays an essential role in self-organization and the dynamic balance of dissipative systems. Self-organization is based on positive feedback (PF). Dynamic equilibrium of the system is ensured by negative feedback (NF). There is a constant competitiveness between the two typ es of feedback - PF and NF. In biological systems, the balance of PF and NF is maintained based on auto-oscillatory homeostasis processes. In the hydration-dehydration processes of biopolymers, the dynamics of the ratio of bound to free water phases coincides with the regulating role of homeostasis. Water sustains the balance of the bound-free water phase ratio, which in turn maintains homeostasis.

Disordered Breath-Brain Lateralization: At the Core of Schizophrenia Pathogenesis | Chapter 17 | Advanced Concepts in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 5

The nasal era, which involves repetitive lateralization of nasal airflow, is associated to using one's brain hemisphere supremacy. The parasympathetic and sympathetic autonomic central nervous system states result from this dominance. These beats regulate homeostasis and catecholamine levels by ruling the ergotrophic and trophotrophic basic rest-activity phase (BRAC) phases. The parasympathetic nervous system is complicated in the oligotrophic phase, that reduces heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing and increases digestion and immune function. The trophotropic stage of sympathetic activity increases essence rate, blood pressure, and respiration. Ergotrophic society are more active and aware. Concerned dominance causes vasoconstriction and decongestion in individual nostril, whereas parasympathetic dominance causes vasodilation and blockage in the other. The hypothalamus' core manager controls nasal cycle rhythm, generating bilateral vasoconstriction. The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) can generate beats in asymmetrically organized tools to cause abnormal brain and material lateralization in schizophrenia. Interrupted nasal phase variation may cause using one's brain hemisphere asymmetry, neurodegeneration, and neurotransmitter dysregulation. These means may cause psychopathology. Mind hypoxia is the main cause.

The Autonomic, Hormonal, and Immunological Contributions to the Metabolism and Control of Adipose Tissue as an Organ | Chapter 11 | Emerging Trends in Disease and Health Research Vol. 5

White adipose tissue (WAT) has traditionally been thought of as a passive storage deposit of surplus lipid as an energy reserve. Recent research, however, reveals that WAT functions as an organ system, interacting with the autonomic neural, endocrine, and immune systems. As a result, WAT may operate as a regulatory organ that aids in the maintenance of homeostasis in the body. This cross-sectional study analyses physiological data from 30 patients at the Pinewood Natural Health Centre in Toronto, Canada, to describe the role of WAT in homeostasis mediation. Statistical methods generate a formula that describes the dynamic congruence, which adds to an understanding of the organism through systems medicine (SM). Multiple variables were examined and associated using multiple regression analysis, including body metrics, body composition, metabolic parameters, heart rate variability, and the immunological, autonomous, neurological, and endocrine systems. The null hypothesis stated that no variables would correlate; the alternative hypothesis stated that at least two variables would correlate to indicate congruence and order. The current study aimed to see if different markers of endocrine, metabolic, anthropometric, and immunological functioning linked with evidence supporting the WAT as a contributor to homeostasis. The findings of this investigation revealed high relationships with immune system and metabolism markers, but just a few with the autonomous nervous system. This implies that, despite the body's complexity, not all systems contribute equally heavily to general homeostasis, but that the WAT mass plays an important role in sustaining homeostasis.

The Fooling of Homeostasis Hypothesis Explains All What the Human Papillomavirus Infection does to the Cervix in Woman | Chapter 16 | New Horizons in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 2

After Human Papillomavirus infection, the three most prevalent cervix disease states are low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion, high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion, and cervical cancer. The goal of this research is to identify a viable cure for cervical cancer by pinpointing the origins of the three disease states of the cervix listed above. The Fooling of Homeostasis Hypothesis was used to explain the origins of all three in this chapter. According to this idea, for malignancies originating from stem cells, the would-be cancer cells undergo aggressive growth and aggressive death (at the same rate), deceiving the homeostasis maintained by the surrounding healthy cells and immune cells. This hypothesis claims that the chemicals ethanol-alcohol dehydrogenase and sodium metabisulphite could be used to treat cervical cancer.

Experiment with Personalised Dosing of Hyperthermia | Chapter 15 | Current Topics in Medicine and Medical Research Vol.3

Objective: Our objective is to show the superiority of the membrane selection and connected energy

dose fixed via personal sensing.

Method: Hyperthermia in oncology involves heating malignant cells and causing thermal damage in
an attempt to destroy them. This could be immediate (necrotic) cell-distortion and ignite natural cell
elimination, like apoptosis or autophagy.

Two concepts determine the dose of hyperthermia: (1) isothermal tumour heating, homogeneous
tumour temperature, which is used for necrosis based cumulative equivalent minutes (CEM), and (2)
inhomogeneous heating of the tumour following the heterogeneity of the lesion itself. The
personalized dosing used by oncothermia is heterogenic, it selects the membrane rafts of malignant
cells that sense temperature on a cellular level targeting the nano-clusters of transmembrane
proteins. The method uses the standard specific energy dosing controlled by personal sensing of the
treated patient maintaining homeostatic control through gradual step-up heating process.

Results: The nano excitation is thermal (fits to Arrhenius plot), and acts directly on the membrane of
malignant cells. The homeostatic physiology reactions do not suppress the effective hyperthermia
action with this heating. The stress reactions could be more regulated, the vasocontraction and
vasodilatation effects roughly compensate each other. This allows a clear measurability of the dose of
the treatment: instead of the temperature based cumulative equivalent minutes (CEM) it uses
absorbed energy controlled by the RF-circuit. Due to the small mass of targets the applied power is
low, the energy-sink surface cooling is fixed to homeostasis ensuring the accuracy of the energy-dose
and improving the safety of the hyperthermia method.

Conclusion: The nanoselection of malignant cells via oncothermia allows us to return to the dosing
“gold standard,” which is also applied in radiotherapy. This energy-based dose is personalised with
accurate step-up heating taking the wash-out time and the personal sensing of the patient into
account.
