Emulsomes: A Promising Tool for Lipophilic Drug Delivery | Chapter 4 | Pharmaceutical Research - Recent Advances and Trends Vol. 3

Emulsomes, which are lipid-based nanocarriers, combine the advantages of liposomes and emulsions, providing a versatile platform for the encapsulation and controlled release of hydrophobic drugs. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the structural characteristics, preparation methods, and functional properties of emulsomes, highlighting their role in overcoming the challenges associated with the delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs. Key topics include the physicochemical properties of emulsomes, such as their size, stability, and drug-loading capacity, which are crucial for their effectiveness in drug delivery. The chapter details various preparation techniques, including high-pressure homogenization and solvent evaporation methods, and discusses how these techniques influence the characteristics and performance of emulsomes. The potential applications of emulsomes in improving the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of lipophilic drugs are thoroughly examined. Case studies and experimental data are presented to illustrate the successful use of emulsomes in delivering anticancer agents, antifungal drugs, and other therapeutic compounds. Mathematical Application of Revised Simplex Modelling in Optimal Loan Portfolio | Chapter 13 | Research Updates in Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 1

 Purpose: Agricultural development banks (ADB) record marginal profits with some running at a loss. Due to poor allocation and loan disbursement, the banks are not able to optimize profits from loans. The main aim of this study is to develop a Linear Programming (LP) model to help the Agriculture Development Bank, Sunyani branch in the Brong Ahafo Region to allocate their funds to prospective loan seekers in order to maximize profits.


Methodology: To achieve this aim, secondary data was extracted from the annual reports and financial statements of the bank. Based on these empirical data, the LP model was formulated. The results were found after nine iterations. A computerized software application called LP Solver based on the Revised Simplex Algorithm was used to solve the problem.

Results: The results from the model showed that ADB, Sunyani branch would be making an annual profit of GH¢ 476732.00 on loans alone as against GH¢ 190693.00 in 2011 if they stick to the model. The policymakers and the loan officers at Sunyani ADB should allocate more funds to personal loans since they contributed 34.79% significantly to the bank’s profit.

Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: From the study, it was realized that the Scientific method used to develop the proposed model can have a significant increase in the Bank’s profit margin if put into use. Banks and other financial institutions should adopt the use of mathematical tools and methods to improve efficiency in their work.

Crystal and Electronic Structures of g-C3N4 | Chapter 6 | Current Topics on Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 4

 

 The graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has attracted significant cross-disciplinary interest in the fields of photocatalysis, optoelectronic devices, biomedicines, and other areas as a free-metal, non-toxic, earth-abundant, and environmentally friendly narrow-bandgap dimensional semiconductor with visible light response. Additionally, g-distinct C3N4's crystal and electronic structure gives it adjustable luminescence, extremely high chemical stability, and excellent thermal stability. However, understanding g-crystal C3N4's and electronic structures is essential for optimising performance for various applications and for understanding the mechanisms behind the material's features. This paper provides an overview of the g-C3N4 crystal and electrical structures, defects detection, and band structure rules. Additionally, the structure of g-progression C3N4's from small molecular precursors to macroscopic compounds, including synthesis methods and reaction conditions on intermediate and final product structures and performances.

Cutinase: Preparation and Application | Book Publisher International

 The book describes the manufacture and application of baterial cutinase, providing the author with a thorough grasp of the enzyme and laying the groundwork for future cutinase applications. To begin, his book covers the basics of Thermobifida fusca cutinase, including the concept, source, identification, phylogenetic evolution, and crystal structure. Second, cutinase's functional activity was studied and improved through molecular modification. Finally, overexpression and a fermentation technique were used to make cutinase on a big scale. Theme Based Features and Advantages of Various Health Monitoring Smartphone Applications (Apps) | New Visions in Science and Technology Vol. 5

 Smartphone health applications have a lot of potential for monitoring chronic diseases and changing health-related behaviours because of their massive public reach. These health apps have the potential to greatly reduce the burden on the health-care system by allowing people to monitor their chronic conditions remotely from home, which is especially important in light of the recent increase in the number of older people with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and so on. Despite the fact that the notion of health apps is still relatively new, patients with chronic medical issues are increasingly embracing smartphone health apps to self-monitor their status. We've covered a variety of features and benefits of smartphone health applications in this post, including medication management, lifestyle management, alcohol regulation, food control, and more. We've also spoken about whether adding gaming components to particular health applications improves their usefulness.

A Case Study for Engineering Students: Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set and Its Application in Selecting Specialization | Chapter 1 | Current Topics on Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 4

The intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is a useful model for elaborating on the uncertainty and ambiguity inherent in decision making. The idea of defining an intuitionistic fuzzy set as a generalised fuzzy set is intriguing and beneficial in a variety of settings. In this work, the notion of IFS was studied, and a proposal for its use in specialised selection was made. A case study for engineering students is discussed in detail. From supplied data, we describe a method for computing membership and non-membership degrees. The strategy provided here can be used to a wide range of similar real-world scenarios.
