Drug Utilization Pattern at the Emergency Department of a Tertiary Health Care Hospital in India| Chapter 6 | Pharmaceutical Science: New Insights and Developments Vol. 8

Drug utilization studies ensure patient safety by assessing the safe and effective use of drugs, optimizing treatment strategies for better outcomes and contributing to overall quality improvement in emergency care. The aim of the study is to understand drug utilization patterns at the emergency department of a tertiary health care hospital in India. The study was designed as a prospective observational study. The patients’ data were collected and distributed on the basis of age, gender, comorbidities, disease and drug class in which the patients were observed for 6 months, and the conclusion was obtained with a sample size of 100 patients. Where the result was obtained according to the gender, males (64%) were more prone to disease than females (36%). The age group 51-60 years was more prone to disease, i.e., 28% than the 61-70 years (24%), and the least age group that visited the Emergency department was those 91-100 years (3%). The most common comorbidities that were observed during the study were hypertension (56 Patients), diabetes mellitus (45 Patients), hypothyroidism (10 Patients), and coronary artery disease (15 Patients), while 10 patients had no comorbidities. The common drugs used in ER are Pantoprazole, Ondansetron, Optineuron and Acetaminophen. In this study, the findings highlight the need for promoting rational drug therapy by encouraging the prescription of essential drugs using their generic names to improve health care outcomes and also in optimising drug therapy in the Emergency department.

Major Road Traffic Emergencies: The Role of Forensic Odontologist | Chapter 13 | Medicine and Medical Research: New Perspectives Vol. 8

Mass disasters may arise from natural or manmade circumstances. Over the past few decades, there has been a considerable evolution in trauma therapy, which has decreased mortality during the golden hour. There are still issues, though, and one of them is maxillofacial damage in a patient who has had several traumas. Because the craniofacial region is so close to the brain, cervical spine, and airway, severe damage to this area might make it more difficult to treat a trauma patient in the early stages. In the event of maxillofacial injuries, the standard strategies of airway, breathing and circulation (ABC) therapy are frequently adjusted or enhanced with other approaches. In an already challenging scenario, such alterations come with their own set of difficulties and traps. This chapter focuses on mass disasters that mainly arise from manmade circumstances. Here, we also want to increase awareness among readers of the recent developments in the good samaritan law to incentivize bystanders. This chapter includes Causes and Risk Factors, Trauma Management and Triage. In situations involving mass casualties, Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) is paramount which is dealt with in detail. A special section on the Role of Forensic Odontology highlights how dental evidence can be crucial in both trauma and disaster scenarios, aiding in identification and investigation. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the critical aspects of managing trauma cases, with a specific focus on forensic odontology.

Triage, Risk Concept and Prehospital Emergencies in Psychiatric Ambulance: Proposal for Implementation in the City of Buenos Aires | Chapter 2 | Current Progress in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 1

This episode describe a Triage suggestion to be applied in prehospital mediations by the insane ambulance dependent on the Alvear Hospital and undercurrent legal requirements. Psychiatric emergencies are harsh behavioral changes secondary to decaying mental illness. Such positions present a risk to the patient and other people, so they need next therapeutic attack. They are associated with impressions of fear, anger, prejudice, and even exclusion. The study of prehospital emergency interferences with the insane ambulance of our ward was carried out through the evolutions carried out in the "Ambulance Duty Book". The sort proposal contained the internationally used tests related to opportunity, the reason for the intervention, the dispassionate presentation and the proposed approach approach. The triage arrangement is a tool that allows for the systematisation of approaches against the sort of causes for consultation and performance of mental pathologies in the emergency, in addition to fostering better interventional effectiveness, arrangement homogeneity, and consensus between the health effectors.  The use of triage in insane pathologies is based not only on the response occasion, but also on the money that a device has to put oneself in the place of another them. In the particular case of prehospital transport emergencies, we deem it useful and that the sketches (of the pathology and the atmosphere) are propitious for the exercise of this type of strategy.  It is decided that the implementation concerning this proposal is useful for the dispassionate detection and risk administration of psychiatric pathologies in the prehospital circumstances, since it allows systematizing the mediations according to the possessions of each health system.
