Application of Natural Polymers as Excipients in Dosage Forms | Chapter 8 | Novel Aspects on Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 8

The review focuses on the polymers of unrefined origin and their win importance. Natural polymers, which maybe found in two together woody and non-woodlike plant components such as bark, sources, sap, roots, rhizomes, products, leaves, and plant gums, are typically polymeric polysaccharides. Natural polymers are widely utilised, have less adverse effects, are referring to practices or policies that do not negatively affect the environment, increase bioavailability, are inexpensive, are effortlessly available, and maybe used in a variety of portion of drug or other consumable forms. The paper focuses on an overview of everyday polymers, their characteristics, synthetic components, and applications as excipients in portion of drug or other consumable forms. Natural polymers have also significance in controlled and sustained release studies. The non injurious nature of these everyday products is favorable and classified and mentioned.

Aspirin from Various Analgesic Formulations Using Titrimetry, UV Spectroscopic and HPLC Techniques: A Comparative Analysis | Chapter 17 | Issues and Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 7

Because aspirin, also known as acetyl salicylic acid or 2-acetoxybenzoic acid, contains a carboxylic acid functional group, it is easier to measure using a strong alkali such as NaOH. Aspirin overdoses can have devastating consequences, including death and considerable morbidity. In most analgesic medication formulations in tablet form, aspirin is bound or compounded with other excipients or substituents that are acidic in nature and include acidic groups, making sodium hydroxide an ineffective reagent for measuring aspirin in multicomponent aspirin tablet formulations. Six distinct pills containing aspirin as the active ingredient were taken from a reputed medicine manufacturing firm. While UV-VIS spectroscopy via multivariate calibration gave values at the lower limit or outside the lower limits of the US & BP pharmacopoeia with respect to label claims, while HPLC gave very good resolution and precise results within the pharmacopoeia limits, methods using sodium hydroxide as the main reagent in quantification involve a lot of stoichiometric mathematical manipulations as in the case of titrimetric method.

Optimization of Extraction and Quality Assessment Based on Physicochemical Properties of Carrageenan from Red Algae (Kappaphycus alvarezii) Origin of South Sulawesi Indonesia: A Recent Study | Chapter 8 | Research Trends and Challenges in Physical Science Vol. 5

Carrageenan, a chemical produced from the red algae Kappaphycus alvarezii, is one of the substances that can be created as a raw material for pharmaceuticals or excipients. This red algae species was chosen as the subject of study because, in addition to having a high carrageenan content, it can be found in abundance in the waters of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This study began with the collection, washing, and processing of red algae, followed by carrageenan extraction using a modified extraction method. Because the percent RSD of both the repeatability and reproducibility calculations does not exceed 3%, the carrageenan extraction method using a technical ethanol precipitator and pro-analytical ethanol meets the repeatability and reproducibility precision requirements because it meets the Horwitz standard of a maximum RSD of 3%. To get carrageenan raw materials, the extracted products were separated, filtered, and dried. The products were then physically and chemically examined, as well as spectrophotometry and chromatography, to guarantee that the carrageenan obtained fulfilled the quality standards as excipient raw materials in pharmaceutical formulations. The results showed that the raw material from Kappaphycus alvarezii red algae meets Indonesian National Standard (SNI) quality criteria, and the carrageenan produced meets Food Agriculture Organization (FAO), Food Chemicals Codex (FCC), and European Economic Community quality standards (EEC).

Practical Manual for Herbal Drug Technology | Book Publisher International

The purpose of this book, named "Practical Manual for Herbal Drug Technology," is to provide information on herbal medications, herbal formulations, herbal excipients, herbal cosmetics, and nutraceuticals. The book covers the fundamentals of determining the alcohol level of ayurvedic formulations such as Arista and Asava, as well as the determination of aldehyde, phenol, and total alkaloid in herbs. It focuses on phytochemical screening of crude pharmaceuticals, as well as the preparation and evaluation of herbal formulations such as creams, lotions, shampoos, syrups, pills, and mixes in accordance with pharmacopeial standards. The monograph analysis of several herbal medications according to the Indian pharmacopoeia is also covered in the book. As herbal pharmaceuticals become more popular around the world, this book will be extremely useful in explaining several basic ideas to students and consumers.
