Influential Study of Green Tea Leaf Extracts (Camellia sinensis L.) on Male Reproductive System of Albino Rats | Chapter 9 | Current Aspects in Pharmaceutical Research and Development Vol. 4

 The purpose of this study is to see how effective a herbal product called green tea leaf extract is (GTLE). In addition to determining a simple alternative to surgical castration, the goal of this research is to find an easy way out of male castration. This herbal drug, which was used in this study, had a significant functional and morphological impact on the male reproductive system. Wei. H. et almethod .'s was used to make the extract. The extract was given to two distinct experimental animal groups at two different doses during a 26-day period. Following therapy, the weight of the testis was found to be drastically lowered, as compared to the animals' typical weight rise. The treated animals had reduced sperm count and motility when compared to the control animals. Enzymes like SGPT and SGOT, as well as other blood indicators like glucose and protein, were normal in compared to the control group. The treated groups had lower testosterone levels. FSH and LH levels were also altered in the treated groups. Spermatogenesis was hindered, as demonstrated by the breakdown of testicular seminiferous tubules, according to histological testing. GTLE has a significant castrative impact on the male reproductive system in a dose-dependent way, according to the findings of this study.
