Ethical Challenges in Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and IP in Supply Chain Management | Chapter 4 | New Horizons of Science, Technology and Culture Vol. 4

In today's globalised and digitally interconnected world, supply chain management (SCM) is confronted with complex ethical challenges that have far-reaching implications for businesses and their stakeholders. This study provides an in-depth exploration of three critical areas of ethical concern in SCM: data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property (IP) rights. Through a comprehensive analysis that includes a review of existing literature, cross-case studies, and thematic coding of expert interviews, the study identifies and examines the multifaceted risks and challenges that organisations face in these domains. Three case studies from different industries, such as Technology, Pharmaceutical, and Automotive, were selected. Additionally, three experts were interviewed in this study. The findings highlights that third-party vendors and partners often represent significant points of vulnerability, particularly in terms of cybersecurity. The potential for data breaches and the subsequent impact on both the supply chain and customer trust necessitate rigorous third-party due diligence and proactive cybersecurity measures. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of transparency in data privacy practices as a means of building and maintaining trust with stakeholders, especially in a regulatory environment that is increasingly focused on consumer rights and data protection. In the realm of intellectual property, the study reveals the ongoing struggle to protect proprietary information in a global supply chain context, where legal protections can vary significantly across jurisdictions. The findings emphasise the need for robust legal frameworks and vigilant enforcement to prevent IP theft, while also addressing the delicate balance between fostering innovation through collaboration and safeguarding competitive advantages. The study also identifies the development of an ethical culture within organisations as a critical factor in effectively managing these risks. Leadership commitment to ethics, coupled with regular employee training and awareness programs, is shown to be instrumental in embedding ethical considerations into daily operations. This ethical foundation not only helps in preventing ethical breaches but also supports long-term sustainability and resilience in supply chain management.

Linking English and Cyber Security: Innovative Methods to Enhance Comprehension and Implementation of Security Measures | Chapter 6 | Language, Literature and Education: Research Updates Vol. 2

Language proficiency and cyber security are intimately related in today's digital world. Effective communication becomes crucial for comprehending, putting into practice, and upholding security protocols as cyber threats change. This chapter examines how cyber security awareness, training, and the actual implementation of security measures are improved by fluency in the English language. People are better able to comprehend security requirements, evaluate cyber dangers, and communicate more effectively in defence plans when English language teaching is combined with cyber security expertise. In order to promote a more secure digital environment, the chapter highlights the value of language competency as a tool for enhancing cybersecurity procedures and offers a framework for integrating language instruction with security education.

Detection and Selection of Task-specific Features Algorithms for IoT-based Networks | Chapter 6 | Research Updates in Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 6

In IoT-based home/enterprise network applications, an advanced security system is desirable for resource-constrained devices. Feature selection significantly affects the performance of a Machine Learning-based Intrusion Detection System (ML-IDS) to which data of the highest quality should be fed. An appropriate feature selection with sufficient features increases the accuracy of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) classification. In addition, the consistent use of the same metrics in feature selection and detection algorithms further enhances classification accuracy. First, this paper studies two feature selection algorithms, Information Gain, a metric of entropy, and PSO-based feature selection, a metric of misclassification, to select a minimum number of attack feature subsets for resource-constrained IoT devices. Then, the detection algorithms for multi-classifications, Tree and Ensemble, are evaluated regarding non-consistent and consistent metrics. For specific performance comparison, the same metrics for feature selection and detection algorithm are utilized and compared with non-consistent use of feature selection and detection algorithm, e.g., feature selection by Information Gain (entropy) and Tree detection algorithm by classification.

Evaluating and Enhancing Cybersecurity Awareness and Training Programs in Middle Eastern Universities: A Post-COVID Perspective | Chapter 2 | Research Updates in Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 1

The Security Awareness and Training (SAT) program enables organizational members to understand the organization’s security strategies, know their responsibilities, and control risks that are caused by security incidents. The need for this program has reached an all-time high since COVID-19, which has led organizations to conduct their operations online. One of the most affected fields was the educational field which needed to shift its methods from conventional methods to online learning and teaching pedagogies. Therefore, implementing an SAT program is a critical step for any institution to assure that information assets are appropriately secured. The aim of this chapter is divided into folds: first, to gain an insight and determine the information security awareness and training program levels in the Middle Eastern higher education sector through a case study that examined 182 institute websites over eight countries that were examined before and after COVID-19. Second, to provide recommendations based on the findings that aid information security professionals to establish a new awareness and training program or improve an existing one. Literature showed that no study has been done on the SAT program at the level of the entire Middle Eastern region specifically before COVID-19. However, there was a need for this investigation and therefore, it was a pioneering study at the regional level in the field of information security. The result showed improvements in deploying the SAT program after COVID-19.

Despite all these positive belongings, it also causes in significant negative issues. Over the current years, cases of connected to the internet fraud, cyber-domineering, racial abuse, betting, and por- nography have increased due to the lack of poise and overall awareness with internet users. Therefore, skilled is a need to create knowledge and training on cybersecurity in schools to protect pupils from cyber-domineering, online fraud, and being marks of prejudice. Research reveals that the level of discretion and awareness among computer network users is still moderate and reduced. To ensure cybersecurity knowledge and knowledge among computer network users, young folk need to get educated on in what way or manner to operate carefully in cyberspace. This education will guarantee that they accept how to keep themselves from cybercrimes. To this extent, this research paper will explore the heart of cybersecurity education in schools and support strategies that educators can utilize to advance cybersecurity education across education institutions. This paper will thus decide how cybersecurity preparation can be implemented in a knowledge institution.

Detect & Protect-medical Device Cybersecurity| Chapter 4 | Current Overview on Science and Technology Research Vol. 1

In many businesses today, including healthcare, cybersecurity events have grown to be a major problem. The healthcare sector is much less willing to safeguard its systems from cyberattacks than those other sectors are, which puts the systems at danger. This is a result of the healthcare system's complexity and the fact that different hospitals across the country place varying priorities on cybersecurity. Numerous hospitals around the nation are unprepared to fend off sophisticated cyberattacks. An attack on the healthcare sector includes infrastructure as well as attacks on large data loss, theft, and medical gadgets. These can be extremely expensive for the hospital, leading in millions of dollars in losses, pressures from downtime, a tarnished reputation, and a loss of research and immunizations. As a result, the healthcare sector should make investments in monitoring and safeguarding medical device cybersecurity. Therefore, to harden the systems and monitor intrusion, the healthcare sector should invest in detecting and defending medical device cybersecurity. Utilizing specific programmes, technologies, and behaviours in the hospital will improve cyber resiliency as part of cybersecurity detection and prevention. Some of these technologies and initiatives, however, are neither resilient or self-sustaining. However, if they are adopted and put into practise, they can keep the healthcare system's capacity for resistance to cyberattacks. Among other digital technologies, the detection and protection procedure makes use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing.
