Evaluating and Enhancing Cybersecurity Awareness and Training Programs in Middle Eastern Universities: A Post-COVID Perspective | Chapter 2 | Research Updates in Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 1

The Security Awareness and Training (SAT) program enables organizational members to understand the organization’s security strategies, know their responsibilities, and control risks that are caused by security incidents. The need for this program has reached an all-time high since COVID-19, which has led organizations to conduct their operations online. One of the most affected fields was the educational field which needed to shift its methods from conventional methods to online learning and teaching pedagogies. Therefore, implementing an SAT program is a critical step for any institution to assure that information assets are appropriately secured. The aim of this chapter is divided into folds: first, to gain an insight and determine the information security awareness and training program levels in the Middle Eastern higher education sector through a case study that examined 182 institute websites over eight countries that were examined before and after COVID-19. Second, to provide recommendations based on the findings that aid information security professionals to establish a new awareness and training program or improve an existing one. Literature showed that no study has been done on the SAT program at the level of the entire Middle Eastern region specifically before COVID-19. However, there was a need for this investigation and therefore, it was a pioneering study at the regional level in the field of information security. The result showed improvements in deploying the SAT program after COVID-19.

Security Issues Associated with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): A Narrative Review | Chapter 10 | Research Highlights in Science and Technology Vol. 2

This study is a narrative review that proposed at exploring the benefits, risks, and procedure controls of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) for maximum and effective BYOD adoption. BYOD is a example where representatives use their personal schemes such as Smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc., to access arrangements’ enterprise money such as electronic mail, file servers, and database contents and networks. Significant practical evidence from literature told that 82% of organizations have a BYOD program, while 68% of arrangings see a jump in output after changing to BYOD. Despite these important honors, numerous investigations have proved that threats and attacks on institution data and resources: secrecy, integrity, and chance are the greatest safety concern in BYOD environment. In this study, the authors adopted a narrative review methods. A search, using keywords, was administered and fifty-five peer-inspected journal papers inside the last 5 years concerning this study were identified. These journals emanated Pro Quest databases, ScienceDirect, Taylor and Francis, Crossref.com, Walden University collection of scholarly and peer-inspected journals, and other accompanying texts. Inclusion and exclusion tests were applied, followed by a character appraisal of the picked articles, before dossier were extracted.  Results show that good BYOD policies, directions, and practices coupled with good controls and administration may thwart security breaches on employees' and arrangements' devices and money. Results also show that it is likely to use machine learning approaches to handle threats and attacks to a degree persistent warnings, data outflow, and data theft, dismissal of service (DOS) attack, interruption attack, and untrusted network in BYOD environment. Findings may definitely impact and equip institutions and employees accompanying proven information for favorable security and risk administration programs that may increase shared trust and a healthy BYOD adoption surroundings.

Confidence Analysis of a Solo Sign-On Device for Distributed Computer Networks: A Modeling Approach | Chapter 9 | Recent Advances in Mathematical Research and Computer Science Vol. 5

SSO is a new authentication system that allows a legal user to be authenticated by several service providers in a distributed computer network with just one credential. By offering well-organized security reasons, an SSO technique recently offered and claimed security. Their method, however, is insecure since it compromises credential privacy and authentication soundness. We focus on two types of impersonation attacks: credential recovery attacks and impersonation attacks that don't require credentials. As a result, we provide a stronger authentication solution that overcomes these attacks and shortcomings by using efficient verifiable encryption of RSA signatures. We endorse the formal examination of the soundness of authentication as one open problem.

Study on Security and Privacy in Healthcare Data Mining | Chapter 10 | Issues and Development in Health Research Vol. 6

Reviewing the fundamentals, components, and principles of healthcare information used to mine data, as well as applicable laws and regulations, to manage the privacy and security of healthcare information used to mine data. A literature analysis on technological concerns in privacy assurance is also included, as well as a case study highlighting some potential difficulties in data mining of personally identifiable information. Data mining, in particular when it collects data from many sources, presents unique challenges. This study included privacy and security best practises guidelines for medical data miners.
