Cross-sectional Study to Assess the Personal Hygience Habits and Knowledge of Street Children in the Final Waste Disposal Site in Manggala District, Makassar City, Indonesia | Chapter 5 | Recent Updates in Disease and Health Research Vol. 1

This chapter highlights about Factors Related to Personal Hygiene of Street Children in the Final Waste Disposal Site in Manggala District, Makassar City, Indonesia. Oral hygiene practices can be linked to personal hygiene practices, including access to water and other sanitation facilities. Street children are a real phenomenon in everyday life that cause complex social and health problems, dirty appearance, come from poor families, slum settlements or even street children do not have a place to live. The number of homeless people, beggars and street children has decreased, there were 990 street children and homeless people with beggars in Makassar City in 2012. There were 798 street children in Makassar City in 2016 who were recorded by Social Service officers from a number of points. Makassar road with various problems. This number includes 257 street children, 249 homeless and beggars, 58 buskers, 41 prostitutes, 5 transgender women, 63 drug users, and 125 mental disorders. The research is an analytic observation using the cross-sectional method. The study was conducted in 21 October, 2019 to 31 December, 2019. The results of the observations of street children were found with traffic light and garbage disposal sites. These places are often found with dirty, dirty appearance, dirty clothes, smelly, unkempt hair, dirty hands, not wearing sandals and sometimes they eat without washing their hands, which can cause health  problems for street children. Based on this background, the researcher is interested in examining the factors related to the personal hygiene of street children in the final waste disposal site in Manggala District, Makassar City. The population was the patients with street children numbered 88 people, a purposive sampling technique was applied through chic square, uji continuity correction and multiple logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the variables age, gender, education and knowledge had a relationship with personal hygiene (pvalue<0.035), the R-square value was 0.897, which means that the ability of the independent variable to explain the dependent variable was 89.7% and 10.3% explained by factors other than variables.Knowledge variable has a significant effect on personal hygiene (pvalue<0.001), the magnitude of the influence is indicated by the value of Exp (B). 26.6, which means that street children who are knowledgeable are at least 26.6 times less likely to have personal hygiene than street children with good knowledge. Personal hygiene principles should have become a part of everyday life and providing examples of good personal hygiene practices is the best way for parents to teach their children.

Personal Hygiene in Public and Private Schools in an Urban Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria: A Comparative Study | Chapter 2 | Research Highlights in Disease and Health Research Vol. 4

 This study is made necessary by the need to see the state of the personal clean practices of school pupils as well as referring to practices or policies that do not negatively affect the environment hygiene environments and to compare this rank between the public and private schools, to form evidence-based pieces of advice on how to advance further or strengthen school-based energy program in the state. Children the one are healthy and well-augment are better able to engage adequately in class and thereby benefit from instruction. By resulting in days misplaced from illness, weak hygiene practises contribute to the increasing burden of communicable afflictions. This comparative cross-divided study was conducted in four public and private primary schools in Port Harcourt LGA, Rivers State. The sample magnitude was calculated and 139 pupils were carelessly selected, 75 in all and 64 in the private schools. Data collection was accomplished the use of interviewer-administered inquiry. Data was analysed using SPSS Version 16. Differences in resources were compared utilizing Student’s t-test while association between explicit variables were examined accompanying Chi-Square (X2) test. A probability worth ?0.05 was considered statistically significant.Public and preparatory school pupils had very good cleanliness knowledge (?2=0.101; p=0.97). Assessment of the individual hygiene disclosed that the proportion of pupils who were ranked as ‘very clean’ was greater in the private schools than the public schools, even though not statistically significant (?2=2.881; p=0.277). There were significant distinctnesses in favour of the private schools in the cleanliness of the nails, crowd (skin) and mouth/dentition with p-principles of 0.027, 0.003 and 0.003 respectively. Pupils in public and private schools have a very extreme level of hygiene information but low cleanliness practice. The study forms part of the baseline for judging future programming and invasions for addressing cleanliness behaviour among schools and school children. This take care of indicate that supplementary health troop are needed in Nigeria and additional poor nations to take care of the health of schoolchildren.

Describing the Role of Personal Hygiene on NonComplicated Pediatric Appendicitis Patients| Chapter 8 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 16

Appendicitis, which is an inflammation of the appendix vermiformis, is the most prevalent cause of abdominal pain. Appendicitis in children is also an indicator that they require emergency abdominal surgery. Appendicitis affects 1.66 children in 1000. If detected late, perforation occurs in 97 percent of cases of acute appendicitis, with a death rate of 5.1 per 1000 cases. The most common cause of appendicitis is lymphocytic tissue hyperplasia, which is one of the immune responses to infection. One of the infectious variables was a lack of personal cleanliness. The purpose of this study was to see how well children with non-complicated appendicitis kept their personal hygiene. We'd investigate the impact of personal hygiene on the occurrence of non-complicated appendicitis in children. Methods: At Moewardi General Hospital in Surakarta, this study used descriptive quantitative observational research. The sampling approach was total sampling in appendicitis patients with 33 responses. Patients were assessed using the personal hygiene scale questionnaire, which consists of 12 items. In this study, the dependent variable was the incidence of paediatric appendicitis, while the independent variable was the level of personal hygiene. The data were statistically evaluated for descriptive analysis. The study discovered that 51.5 percent of paediatric appendicitis patients had poor personal hygiene. Conclusions: The paediatric appendicitis patient had inadequate personal hygiene.
