Impact of Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Health Care | Chapter 1 | Contemporary Perspective on Science, Technology and Research Vol. 5

 AI undoubtedly plays an exponential role in healthcare and medicine. Several researches revealed that digitization may help health care professionals in making decisions and discoveries much faster than before. Looking at the advances in AI, medical practice in the forthcoming years might be like where a patient would have to see the computer for initial diagnosis before visiting a doctor. This chapter discusses the algorithm of artificial intelligence, and the impact of artificial intelligence in the health care system. such as virtual medical assistant, automated image diagnosis, personal health companions, oncology, cardiology, radiology, AI powered chatbots. AI may replace humans for initial diagnosis both in developed and developing countries shortly. AI and ML is making people rely on them for basic work flows, decision making and makes people trust them for safety and accuracy.

Routine Assessment of Health Related Quality of Life in Head & Neck Cancer Patients: A 10 Years’ Experience | Chapter 16 | Current Practice in Medical Science Vol. 1

In the field of head and neck oncology, clinical outcomes are often employed. Clinician-reported outcome assessments (health professionals), observer-reported outcome assessments (caregivers), and patient-reported outcome assessments are the three categories that clinical outcome evaluations fall under (patient or proxies).

Based on a decade of experience, we identified the following crucial elements for a successful implementation: institutional support and approval, inclusion of all first-line caregivers, uniformity of team objectives and institutional proposals, team formation and training, encouragement of the defined workflow in routine clinical practise, and ongoing monitoring and analysis.

The knowledge gained from routinely assessing health-related quality of life allows for a considerably more comprehensive and all-encompassing understanding of its significance throughout the disease.

Because they are aware that these patient-centered outcomes will be utilised to raise healthcare quality, which is also our main objective, patients with head and neck cancer view questionnaires as an essential component of their treatment plans.

Determination of Pharmacological and Therapeutic Potential of Cissus quadrangularis L. | Chapter 6 | Current Aspects in Pharmaceutical Research and Development Vol. 6

 The goal of this study was to find out how effective Cissus quadrangularis is as a pharmacological and therapeutic agent. L. Cissus quadrangularis(CQ) Linn., also known as Veldt Grape, Winged Tree-bine, or Devil's Backbone, is an Asian and African plant that is endemic to India and Sri Lanka. Numerous studies support the creation of new oncology treatments to be added to existing protocols in order to improve the effectiveness of existing treatments, reduce side effects, and improve patients' quality of life. Chemotherapy-induced side effects are dependent on a number of factors, including the drug used, its dosage, and the length of treatment. Pain, weariness, sore throats and mouths, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and blood problems are some of the side effects. Chemotherapy can cause cognitive dysfunction, headaches, dizziness, vision loss and vision disturbances such as blurred or double vision, changes in learning and memory, sexual dysfunction, ataxia, and peripheral neuropathy, which are all typical side effects.

Three Year Study of Insulin Potentiation Therapy in the Treatment of Malignant Neoplastic Diseases | Chapter 15 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 8

 The use of chemotherapy in the treatment of neoplastic disease still poses various challenges, despite decades of clinical study. Numerous toxicity-related side effects, as well as the possibility of chemoresistance, are significant among the possible complications. Despite the common trend of using a number of new chemotherapeutics in a variety of combinations, progress has been sluggish and unsatisfactory due to the aforementioned factors.


Approach: In search of a fresh perspective, we implemented Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) in our practise. Theoretical foundations and experimental data on insulin's mode of action, as well as its practical implementation, demonstrate that IPT is a promising tool with low toxicity. Furthermore, it allows for a selectively physiological approach to the use of chemotherapy in the treatment of neoplastic disease.

The findings of our three-year experience using Insulin Potentiation Targeted Therapy Low Dose (IPTLD) in the care of 196 patients with a range of neoplastic diseases are presented in this study.

Our findings revealed that patients tolerated IPTLD without difficulty and without experiencing any significant side effects. Our laboratory experiments showed that when chemotherapeutics were used in combination with insulin at a fractionated level in a dose dense regimen, the dose dependent toxicity of the drugs was greatly reduced. Eighty-five of 106 patients (80%) with advanced metastatic disease registered a subjectively meaningful increase in their quality of life after being followed up on.

Conclusions: More extensive experimental evidence and clinical trials are required to gain a better understanding of IPTLD's therapeutic potential. We were able to use IPTLD as a leading tool in the treatment of cancer patients in our practise because of the positive outcomes we obtained and, most significantly, its lower toxicity.

Development in Oncological Hyperthermia | Chapter 11 | New Insights into Physical Science Vol. 1

Hyperthermia was the very first oncotherapy in human medicine, but its applicability in modern oncology was dubious. The discovery of electromagnetism gave new hope a century ago, however, until up to now, it has been suffering from lack of wide acceptance. Oncological hyperthermia suffers from multiple unsolved medical and technical problems. The accurate selection of malignant tissue and its proper heating in depth are real challenges together with the control and repeatability of the treatments. However, the center of the problems is not technical: the living system tries to keep its homeostatic equilibrium and creates active feedback mechanisms to eliminate or at least correct the constrain heating in depth. The proper reaction on the “gage of battle” has to involve the physiology, handle it complexly together with bio-electromagnetism and update connected technology. The solution has to be the integration of the natural bio-effects into the technological constrains, acting in synergy with the physiological feedback mechanisms, and without forcing effects out of the homeostatic control. The solution lies in strict selection and adequate action in nanoscopic range, without exciting the robust transport-mechanisms to operate against the energy delivery to the tumor. Together with the local optimization, the systemic effects have to be considered, because malignancy is not a local disease. This concept needs interactions with the immune-system being effective on the disseminated cell in far distance too. Our objective is to present a complex technical solution to this complex problem.
