Determination of Anti-Inflammatory Potential of Cassia italica (Mill) Lam. EX. FW. Andrews Leaves | Chapter 08 | Current Aspects in Pharmaceutical Research and Development Vol. 3

Because of their high therapeutic value, Cassia species have piqued the interest of phytochemical and pharmacological researchers. In animal models, the anti-inflammatory efficacy of a methanolic extract of Cassia italica leaves was examined. The extract demonstrated good anti-inflammatory efficacy at various doses, which was aided greatly by the production of oedema caused by carrageenan and formalin. These results were also comparable to Indomethacin, the study's reference drug. The findings of this study show that the methanolic extract is effective as a therapeutic agent in both acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. As a result, it's possible to conclude that Cassia italica leaf extracts have potent anti-inflammatory activities.

The goal of this study was to look into the effects of carrageenan and formalin on paw edoema in Cassia italica.

Uncover Ginseng | Book Publisher International

Ginseng is an adaptogen that is found in seventeen different species and belongs to the Araliaceae family. Ginseng's active ingredients are known as ginsenosides. The human body benefits from ginsenosides in a variety of ways. Immunomodulatory, anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-aging are some of the dynamic and multifunctional capabilities of ginsenosides. The mechanisms of ginsenosides' positive effects in the human body are discussed in this book in a straightforward and accurate manner.

The Protective Role of Adiponectin against Cerebral Ischemic Injury—Evidence from in vivo and in vitro Studies | Chapter 6 | Current Topics in Medicine and Medical Research Vol.4

Adiponectin (APN) is an adipokine abundant in circulation. Its main physiological function is involved

in insulin sensitivity and regulation of metabolism of glucose and lipids. Besides, it has pleiotropic

effects including anti-inflammation, anti-atherosclerosis, anti-thrombosis, promotion of endothelial

repair, and angiogenesis which are protective in endothelial injury, atherosclerosis, and

cardiovascular diseases. Evidence from current in vivo and in vitro studies indicate adiponectin has a

pivotal role against cerebral ischemic injury. Adiponectin is found in vascular endothelium after

cerebral ischemic injury due to exogenous accumulation from the circulation but not endogenous

production in ischemic brain tissues. Adiponectin alleviates cerebral ischemic injury through multimechanisms, including eNOS-dependent mechanism, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, antiapoptosis,

and promotion of angiogenesis. Furthermore, APN-gene modified cell therapy can alleviate

cerebral ischemic injury. Among adiponectin isoforms, the globular adiponectin is mostly studied and

proved to be beneficial in the treatment of cerebral ischemic injury. Since adiponectin is secreted

naturally by human adipocytes with a relatively large amount in the peripheral circulation and has

multi-mechanisms against cerebral ischemic injury, it is of great potential in the application of clinical

treatment of ischemic stroke in the future.
