Resiliency, Achievement at University and Identities. A Study at the Light of a New Systemic Paradigm: The Three Dimensional Spiral of Sense | Chapter 6 | Progress in Language, Literature and Education Research Vol. 2

This study is constituent the broad research program on University Quality Appraisal. It falls into the Sub Program of Feature Education Optimization concerning students’ realizations, with a view to implementing professors’ support and professionalization methods. The aim was to go deep into the causes for delay in finishing studies at the Academy, as well as to make or become acquainted with the strong “reasons” leading to a delay, everywhere, of over the half of the pre-established opportunity assigned to different courses of studies.). The main objective search out observe the relationship middle from two points resiliency and accomplishment at the National University of Cuyo, attractive a long period (in addition 20 years and 6 faculties). From the concerning details point of view, quantitative (explanatory and predictive level: bivariate and multivariate) and approximate methodologies were used. Triangulation was before carried out. The model contained factors of different types: elementary, personal, occupational, fundamental, pedagogic-uniform and psychosocial ones.  We worked on three (3) levels: big-méso-micro-big in their sustained interaction or fundamental feedback. The study macro-procedures combine accompanying institutional “decisions” and a reign of “disciplinary” programs, that often disregard the consolidation of friendly competencies (méso level) and, finally, accompanying the situation of the basic actors (micro level), that is to say, delaying juniors.  Here we will analyze the results had connection with the Resiliency factor (all-inclusive level). We used the Henderson and Milstein’s method, which shows degrees of resilience at the staff cadre, the institution and the professors’ levels, evidencing place the strengths and weaknesses are situated. There perform different identities related to various Faculties and Courses of Study; identities connected to the students’ achievement. The practical findings specify elements for informed accountable that looks at the quality of the university plan, generating professionalization and unending improvement programs that incorporate the preparation of “soft abilities”.

Determination of Relative Effectiveness of Peer Tutoring and Think-Pair-Share Strategies in Improving Senior Secondary School Students’ Academic Performance in Chemistry in Osogbo | Chapter 9 | New Visions in Science and Technology Vol. 8

The researchers looked at the impact of peer tutoring and think-pair-share instructional tactics on students' Chemistry grades. It also looked at how effective peer tutoring and think-pair-share tactics were at improving students' attitudes toward Chemistry. These were done in order to show which instructional tactics can help students improve their Chemistry grades. This study employed a non-equivalent pre-test, post-test control group experimental research design. The study comprised all public senior secondary class one (SS 1) science students in Osogbo. Out of the two local government areas in Osogbo, Olorunda Local Government was chosen using a basic random selection technique. A simple random sample approach was used to select one intact class from each of the three senior high schools in the Local Government Area. The study involved a total of 113 participants (38, 37 and 38 from each of the three schools). The schools were separated into three groups using a basic random sampling procedure (Peer Tutoring, Think-Pair-Share, and Teacher Expository). Two instruments were used to collect data for the study: the Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT) and the Questionnaire on Student Attitudes toward Chemistry (QASTC). The data was examined using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Students exposed to peer tutoring, think-pair-share instructional tactics, and instructor expository teaching strategies performed significantly differently (F= 28.970; p 0.05), according to the findings. There was no significant variation in students' views about Chemistry when they were exposed to peer tutoring and think-pair-share (F= 2.865; p> 0.05), according to the findings. When compared to the Peer Tutoring Teaching Strategy (PTTS) and the Teacher Expository Teaching Strategy, the Think-Pair-Share Teaching Strategy (TPSTS) had the best influence on student academic attainment (TETS). Students exposed to TPSTS had a mean difference of 1.8904 when compared to PTTS and a mean difference of 4.1287 when compared to TETS. According to the data, think-pair-share was a better teaching technique than peer tutoring and teacher expository teaching strategies for improving students' academic performance in Chemistry.

As the ATMA programme is under operation in Assam for the last ten years, the researchable questions may arise about to what extent the functions of ATMA through cafeteria of activities at district level are achieved such as farmer oriented activities, farm information dissemination, agricultural technology refinement, validation and adoption (R-E-F-Linkage), administrative and capital expenses, innovative activities and other innovative activities etc. Keeping in view the broad aims of the ATMA and to find out relevant answers on the above stated questions, a study was carried out in three CSS-ATMA districts of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Goalpara in the year 2015-16 with a view to find out the organizational level performance of ATMA under new extension reforms. A purposive sampling method was followed to select the districts for the study. The result of the findings highlighted that the trend of achievement of cafeteria of activities as per ATMA guideline were below 50.00 per cent in the three consecutive years viz., 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 except in few activities where the achievement of activities under the heads “Agril. Technology Refinement, Validation and Adoption (R-E-F-Linkage)”, “Administrative/Capital Expenses” and “Innovative Activities”, were 62.50 per cent, 59.39 per cent and 50.03 per cent respectively in the year 2013-14. On the other hand, in the year 2014-15, the achievement of activities under the head “Other Innovative Activities” were 100.00 per cent.
