Assessment of Phytoremediation Ability of Prosopis juliflora and Conocarpus lancifolius on Heavy Metals Contamination of Soils in Jeddah City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia| Chapter 10 | Research Aspects in Chemical and Materials Sciences Vol. 4

The present study aims towards judging  phytoremediation ability of  Prosopis juliflora and Conocarpus lanceolins on burdensome metals (chromium, lead, and smaller currency in exchange for larger)  contaminations of soils at  different districts in Jeddah. Soil samples were captured from same plant sites, familiar factories, main roads, and arm roads and from a apartment (as control). Soil texture, pH, and EC and the amount of Cr, Pb, and Ni were supposed for two together plants and soils.  Results revealed that, soil makeup is mainly ammophilous (78.5-96.5%, 1.0-16.5% sediment, and 1.0-6.0 clay). The amount of sounds that are pleasant in soil of Prosopis juliflora sites were middle from two points 0.74-54.0μg/g D.wt. for Cr, 0.31-4.64 μg/g D.wt. for Pb and 1.22-24.5 μg/g D.wt. for Ni. The range of Cr, Pb and Ni in the leaves was between 0.04-13.3.0μg/g D.wt. for Cr, 0.06-20.0 μg/g D.wt. for Pb and 0.16-9.0μg/g D.wt. for Ni. For the soil of Conocarpus lanceolins, the EC categorized 'tween 0.27- 1.05 mS/cm; whereas, pH categorized from 7.29-7.55. this indicated the phytoremediation strength of these two variety in reducing burdensome details in soil and absorbing ruling class in their leaves. . Phytoremediation is an effective method to overcome the belongings of heavy metals containing Cr, Pb, and Ni that are being fascinated in plants.

Study on Utilization of Prosopis juliflora Root Powder as a Self Curing Agent | Chapter 9 | New Visions in Science and Technology Vol. 4

Curing is a crucial step in increasing the strength of concrete. A self-curing agent's function is to conserve water and reduce water evaporation from concrete, hence increasing the water retention capacity of concrete when compared to conventionally cured concrete. In this study, Prosopis juliflora root powder is utilised as an additive for self-curing concrete. Due to its mechanism for overcoming harsh situations such as drought and salt, Prosopis juliflora (Seemai Karuvelam in Tamil) grows rapidly and spreads. It can draw water from deeper strata thanks to its deep penetrating roots. Because its root can hold a lot of water, powder formed from it can be used as an additive in self-curing concrete. The experimental analysis of the self-curing property of concrete using Prosopis juliflora root powder is the focus of this work. The tests were carried out on both fresh and hardened concrete. Based on the findings, we concluded that by including Prosopis juliflora root powder as a self-curing agent in the concrete mix at various percentages, the addition of 0.75 percent Prosopis juliflora root powder by the weight of cement achieves the 28-day compressive strength of conventional M25 grade concrete in just seven days. Concrete's compressive strength is reduced by adding more Prosopis juliflora root powder.
