Food Processing, Health Benefits, and Value-Addition Potential of Pearl Millet and Sorghum: A Nutritional Review | Chapter 1 | Food Science and Agriculture: Research Highlights Vol. 6

 

Millets are the sixth most-produced grain crop worldwide. Millets are superior to rice and wheat in terms of calcium, dietary fibre, and protein in terms of nutrition. Further, they are rich in vital vitamins and phytochemicals that support health and well-being. The beneficial physicochemical, nutritional and flexibility qualities of millets are ideal for widespread use in the food industry. The present review aims to update the present basic knowledge about various phyto-constituents of millet. Next, an in-depth review of the food and health application highlights its nutrition and health-promoting activities. The section on processing and other treatments aims to review the nutrition and mineral bioavailability of millets. Finally, current trends in millet and by-products applications in biomedical, industry and value-based plant-based products are discussed. With a global increase in population and a change in food patterns globally, new health and nutrition-conscious foods are the need of the hour. To this end, the increased use of millets in a wide range of products, such as baby foods, dietary items, value-added food products, and ready-to-eat snacks, is an indication towards their inclusion by food researchers to meet the needs of people of all ages. The rich bioactive profile and diverse culinary uses of millets emerge as promising options for addressing malnutrition. Since millet can be augmented to the diet in several ways, they have the potential to improve nutritional status across the society. The review is hence direct to assess current-knowledge and aid newer aims for research and development and improvement of millets to meet the nutritional needs of society and also contribute to sustainable agricultural practices.

Evaluation and Correlation of Raised Serum Alanine Transaminase Values in Reference with Obesity | Chapter 2 | Current Innovations in Disease and Health Research Vol. 6

 This study was planned to access the level of alanine transaminase in corpulent subject in the population of Peshawar city, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Obesity is the end result of an inequality between strength expended and consumed, that causes abnormal fat development in the body's tissues. Epidemiological, dispassionate, and animal studies have reported the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of corpulence and its mixed risk factor. Obesity further leads to the development of cardiovascular disease and heart failure mortality alone of other cardiovascular risk factors. The current research was administered in RMI Hospital, Peshawar KPK Pakistan during December 2018 to June 2019. A total of 300 population who appears to be obese (159 women and 141 males) was checked during the entire ending for obesity utilizing BMI. Out of 300 cases, 148 (49.3%) cases were separated in the types of obese individuals contingent upon body bulk index values in accordance with WHO criteria. Female with raised body bulk index were 71 (48.0%) and 77 (52.0 %) were males. About 35 (46%) male patients presented elevated Alanine Aminotransferase level and 24 (33.8%) women. In both male and female accompanying increase body mass index granted elevated antitoxin Alanine Aminotransferase. The prevalence of increased ALT principles in obese cases (BMI greater than or effective 31 kg/m2) was more than eight times that in those accompanying normal pressure (BMI less than or prepared 25 kg/m2), even after allowing for the confusing effect of alcohol devouring. From this study, it was concluded that there is comparably increase in serum Alanine Aminotransferase overflowing increase in body bulk index and this raised enzyme levels is more low in obese men than obese females.

A Random Study to Assess Height, Weight and BMI of Children Attending Anganwadi Centres in Urban Project Sectors of Trivandram District | Chapter 12 | Cutting Edge Research in Biology Vol. 4

 Aim: To determine height, pressure and BMI (Body Mass Index) of children accompanying anganwadi centers.Sample: Ninety children accompanying the anganwadi centers in the age group of two to six age were studied.Study Design: A random study was approved to assess anthropometric calculations such as climax, weight and BMI of minors (2-6 years) accompanying anganwadi centers in the Urban 2 project areas of Trivandrum neighborhood, Kerala. Children were selected carelessly from sector 1 and area 4. Data collected were compared accompanying the standard values to find the differences.Place of Study: Sectors I and IV in the Urban II project areas of Trivandrum sector in Kerala was randomly picked for study.Methodology: Height, weight and Body Mass Index of 90 youth were collected and written. Data collected were distinguished with the standard principles to find the deviation among the study populace.Results: 80% of children accompanying the anganwadi centers were having higher in amount minimum height guidelines. Even though majority of babies have a body bulk index less than 5th percentile displaying the chances of malnutrition.Conclusion: Children bearing less than their minimum height and burden requirements demands special consideration. Less BMI value displays the presence of starvation and need proper care and consideration.

Effect of Body Mass Index on Psycho-physical Occupational Health of Doctors in India: A Descriptive Study | Chapter 11 | Research Developments in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 9

 Doctors in the current synopsis are always unprotected to constant and maintained levels of physical and insane stress. As they form backbone of healthcare manufacturing, the health of clinicians themselves is a very important factor towards providing good condition to all.This study aims to determine the effect of corpse mass index on work accompanying musculoskeletal discomfort (WMSD) and occupational stress (OS) in clinicians. This will authorize a relation middle from two points obesity and insane-physical fitness of clinicians.The descriptive study accompanying inferential design was attended on 200 clinicians working in OPD hospitals of various areas of our Medical College, and various private hospitals and hospitals of Jalandhar with approximate event of study being one old age.  BMI was calculated as percentage of Weight (kg) to the square of height (m). Over 40-old age-old clinicians were more inclined report having a extreme BMI, and surgeons were more likely to happening it than medical doctors. Majority (n = 115) 57.5% of the clinicians were erect to have mild musculoskeletal discomfort attended by no discomfort (23%) while 19.5% of them shown moderate to severe discomfort. Female doctors revealed more level of discomfort than male doctors. The relationship 'tween BMI and questionnaire score is very significant. Clinicians accompanying a BMI greater than 25 had a taller percentage (57.4%) of moderate to harsh OS.BMI is favorably equated with clinicians' material and mental well-being, particularly not sure-aged group.  This facts serves as an awareness and alarm for the clinicians to protect their own well-being.

Body Mass Index and Cardiovascular Fitness in Children | Chapter 02 | Emerging Trends in Disease and Health Research Vol. 7

 The goal of the study is to determine the impact of BMI on children's cardio-respiratory fitness. Cardiopulmonary fitness is especially important in children. This is something that a lot of parents aren't aware of. Children are more likely to have poor cardiac fitness since they are not allowed to play outside due to safety concerns and overprotection. This is a cross-sectional study that included 60 healthy youngsters aged 8 to 12. All of the samples are collected in a timely manner and divided into three groups based on their BMI rate (normal, overweight, and obese). Participants who were taking any drugs, had a history of neuromuscular or cardiac disease or injuries, or had any physical limitations were excluded from the study. After explaining the six-minute walk test to the samples, they were required to do it. The distance covered during the six-minute walk test was measured, and the maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) was calculated using the Cahaline formula. The acquired data is analysed and compared using the KRUSKAL WALLIS test. 0.00001 (P0.05) was the p value. The mean value of group A is higher than the mean value of the other two groups. Children with a normal BMI have superior cardiopulmonary fitness than children who are overweight or obese, according to research.
