A Focus on Trends of Robot Technology in Manufacturing Industry and China's Transformation| Chapter 10 | Science and Technology: Recent Updates and Future Prospects Vol. 11

The concept of Industry 4.0 is defined by many technologies, some of which are: robotics and automation, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Cloud Computing, 3D printing, smart sensors, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), virtual and augmented reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced security systems, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), etc. Industry 4.0 has a significant impact on the automation of production processes, by causing numerous changes in three segments: companies, technology and workers. Developed countries worldwide have their own strategies on Industry 4.0, which offer guidelines on its implementation in production processes, with the aim of their complete flexible automation. The core technologies on which Industry 4.0 rests have led to a complete transformation in production processes, especially in the automotive industry. The core technology of Industry 4.0, especially in the automotive industry, is robot technology, i.e., the implementation of industrial and service robots in production processes. China has been the leading country in the world to implement industrial robots in production processes in the last eight years. The paper provides an analysis of the implementation of industrial robots and service robots in the automation of production processes in the automotive industry with a focus on China. The paper also analyzes vehicle production in China, as well as the readiness of production processes in the automotive industry for the implementation of Industry 4.0. The analysis of the automation of production processes in the automobile industry in China was carried out for two reasons. The first is that China has a growing middle-class population, so demographic trends are encouraging the growing demand for certain products, such as cars. Another reason is that in China (as in Japan, Russia and Western Europe) the average age of factory workers is increasing (the labor force is older), thus the performance of certain tasks becomes more difficult so greater efficiency is not achieved. In the past four years, there has been an increasing trend in the application of second-generation industrial robots–collaborative robots. This trend is expected to grow in the future due to the implementation of Industry 4.0. Robotic technology is the basic technology of Industry 4.0, which is indicated by the research that shows that the automotive industry production processes will become ‘smart‘‘ production processes in the years to come.

An Overview on Advancement in Different Technologies for the Measurement of Uranium in Diverse Matrices | Chapter 7 | Science and Technology - Recent Updates and Future Prospects Vol. 7

Uranium in significant concentrations may be transported throughout a wide range of Eh and pH conditions as various uranyl complexes. An overview of advancement in different technologies, which can be used in the field as well as in a laboratory for the measurement of uranium in diverse matrices such as water, minerals, mineralized rocks, and other beneficiation products for its exploration and processing industries is presented. Laser-based technologies, ion chromatography, micro-sample X-ray analysis method followed by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence technique (MXA-EDXRF), sensors for electrochemical detection followed by cyclic voltammogram and alpha liquid scintillation counting techniques are the most promising techniques. Among these techniques, laser/LED-fluorimetry/spectrofluorimetry, in particular, is the technique of choice because of its high-performance qualification (PQ), inherent sensitivity, simplicity, cost-effective, minimum generation of analytical waste, rapidity, easy calibration and operation. It also fulfills the basic essential requirements of reliability, applicability and practicability (RAPs) for the analysis of uranium in a solution of diverse matrices in the entire nuclear fuel cycle. A very extensive range of uranium concentrations may be covered. Laser/LED- fluorimetry is suitable for direct determination of uranium in natural water systems within the mg L-1 and mg L-1 range while differential technique in laser/LED- fluorimetry (DT-LIF) is suitable for mineralized rocks and concentrates independent of matrix effects (uranium in samples containing >0.01% uranium). The most interesting feature of TRLIF is its capability of performing speciation of complexes directly in solution as well as remote determination via fiber optics and optrode. Future trends and advances in lasers, miniaturization and automation via FIA have been discussed. Application of differential technique (DT) in laser-induced/LED-fluorimetry for the direct determination of uranium (without resorting to any separation technique) is recommended for routine accurate determination of uranium over a wide range of concentrations, which is based on the comparison of the response of the standard with a sample of similar but unknown concentration on the same sample weight basis. In this approach, the procedure of elimination of interference by simple dilution of the sample has the distinct advantage of being quick and very simple to perform because it does not require any chemical preparation or extraction. The results are in good agreement with the published data and those obtained by conventional fluorimetry and other methods, and of comparable precision to those obtained by titrimetric assay. It is a self-standardized green methodology of measurement and guarantees the quality of an analytical result (Accuracy, high precision, reliability, comparability, and traceability). Application of differential technique in Laser-induced/LED-fluorimetry has the inherent high metrological quality and will be useful for the analysis of uranium in ores, certification of reference materials, borehole core assay, beneficiation product, and other diverse applications in the entire nuclear fuel cycle worldwide. Over the years, the LED-fluorimetry technique has emerged with so many analytical figures of merit and will continue to grow for reliable measurement of uranium in water as well as for rocks, minerals, concentrates and other diverse matrices to fulfill the mission and mandate for the sustainable growth of the nuclear industry worldwide.

Automatic handling of flexible materials has been the subject of much research over the last 20 years, with most applications being in the textile industry. Several gripping devices have been developed to grasp a single layer of fabric from a pile of fabric and transfer it to a predefined location. The pneumatic principle uses vacuum or differential pressure as the operating principle, making them non-intrusive.

The primary goal of this study was to design a vacuum suction gripper and establish its design parameters for pocket welting operations in apparel manufacturing. This research showcases the innovative application of vacuum suction technology in grabbing techniques, revolutionizing the handling and manipulation of various fabric materials across different garment industries. The paper delves into the working principles of vacuum suction, detailing its various components and the underlying physics. Moreover, it explores the diverse applications of vacuum suction in the garment industry, particularly in automation. Additionally, the study addresses the challenges and limitations of vacuum suction technology. Compared to traditional methods, vacuum suction, being non-intrusive and non-invasive, offers several advantages. It is particularly beneficial when dealing with soft woven fabrics and air-impermeable materials, ensuring gentle handling. Notably, there is success in grasping the fabric piece from one location to another location as provided by the solution of the robotic pick and further advancing automation in garment manufacturing.

This study also suggests potential areas for further research and development.

Exploring the Neural Basis of Stereotyped, Automatized, and Habitual Behaviours: Common Mechanisms or Distinct Motor Skills? | Chapter 6 | Recent Updates in Disease and Health Research Vol. 6

This review focuses on the basic classification of higher motor control functioning, considering recent advances in the structural knowledge of the basal ganglia and computational model of basal ganglia functioning. We discuss the capability of the basal ganglia in executing ordered motor patterns in which any single movement is linked to each other into an action, and many actions are ordered into each other, giving them a syntactic value to the final behaviour. In recent decades, a thorough understanding of the higher executive processes of motor control has been created. Diverse technology strategies have been used to address important objectives. Our ability to respond to better answers that have been proposed and to examine complex neurological system functioning more thoroughly than before has significantly enhanced due to an abundance of fresh data. Behaviour is the observable result of the invisible, as complex cerebral functioning. Many pathological states are observed after the symptomatology categorization of behavioural impairments is achieved. Motor, non-motor and psychiatric signs are greatly contributed by many neurological/psychiatric disorders.

Along with the cerebral cortex, the basal ganglia contribute to the expression of behaviour by promoting the correct action schemas and the selection of appropriate subgoals based on the evaluation of action outcomes. Stereotypic, automatized, and habitual behaviour constructs and controls are the expression of successive stages of rule internalization and categorization aimed at producing the perfect spatial-temporal control of motor command. With the release of numerous wearable devices and the influx of new data, there will be an unprecedented level of movements categorization. As this goal is achieved, the remarkable cerebral capacity to generate skills in an emergent manner would become accessible.

Core-shell Media: A Trendsetter in LC Separation | Chapter 4 | Progress in Chemical Science Research Vol. 8

Liquid chromatography (LC) is an efficient quantitative technique with strong roots in analytical disciplines. Small particle advances in ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) have improved column performance and improved analytical properties, but the small particle size is problematic and generates a high back pressure. To overcome this issue, an alternate approach employing core-shell particles was devised that could overcome the drawback of back pressure and obtain similarly efficient results to UHPLC. Core-shell particles are the most cost-effective alternative to porous particles, resulting in substantial savings. Recent advances in particle technology for liquid chromatography have generated significant interest in the usage of shell particles. The core diameter was lowered and active layer thickness was reduced to 0.5 µm, allowing for fast separation of peptides and proteins. The core of the packing material is a solid sphere, which has a weaker axial diffusion effect and reduces the peak's axial expansion. Additionally, the radial temperature transfer is enhanced, making the temperature distribution more uniform and accelerating the mass transfer speed. The particle size distribution of core-shell column is more continuous and uniform than that of full porous column, resulting in a lesser eddy current diffusion effect and higher column efficiency. This book chapter focuses on concept of core-shell particle columns, its uses and restrictions; effect of devising techniques, physical characteristics size and thickness of core shell particles on the separation performance.

Industrial Automation of Gas Tunnel Kiln Using Relay Logics, PLC and VFD’s| Chapter 4 | Techniques and Innovation in Engineering Research Vol. 2

One of the most important concerns facing every industry today is automation. Almost every facet of existence is being impacted by automation, including space technology and agriculture. In today's globally competitive market, plant automation is a requirement for the manufacturing industry. It alludes to the system's capacity to operate continuously without human intervention. The Gas Tunnel Kiln (GTK) doors and the movement of the transfer car in and out of the kiln are currently operated manually, and the kiln's high temperature renders manual operation unsafe. In this paper, we are designing a control circuit for the automation of the GTK using relay logics and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's). A vestibule is present on both the front and back sides of the GTK. The entire charging and discharging process for the green Insulators is automated. Creating ladder diagrams that can be implemented using hardware components comes first, followed by simulation using LADSIM - PLC Simulator.
