Study of Flow Simulation of Recirculation Zone of an V-Gutter | Chapter 6 | Research and Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 6

The Afterburner is an supplementary combustion component secondhand on some Jet turbines, mostly those on military quick aircraft. Its purpose search out increase thrust, usually for a quick flight, satirize and during combat. The afterburning process injects supplementary fuel into a combustor in the jet pipe behind the turbine, reheating the drain gas. Afterburner considerably increases thrust as an alternative to utilizing a bigger power plant accompanying its burden penalty, but at the cost of raised fuel consumption (declined fuel efficiency) that limits its use for short periods. The V-ditch is a flame stabilizing ploy used in Afterburners. The flow about the V-Gutter is highly complex on account of the recirculating nature of the flow. The flame counterweight is characterized by the time of the recirculation zone therefore the determination of recirculation is the objective of our study. Since the flow about the gutter is guide flow separation and recirculation it is awake probe interference and test is costlier therefore, we resort to Flow imitation using Ansys. The reasoning of flow around V-Gutter and after determination of recirculation district is carried out by way of the CFD Software Ansys Fluent. This aims to study the mass flow rate increases in the recirculation district at which point angles, according to the reasoning of the three angles 30°, 45°, and 60°, respectively.

Investigating the Structural Behaviour of RC Ribbed Skew Slab by Changing Skew Angle in Feasible Range | Chapter 11 | Research and Developments in Engineering Research Vol. 2

The study of skew hunk is quite complicated than those of a common rectangular hunk. This chapter looks at the parametric features of RC un-stiffened and ribbed distort slabs (stiffened by tease beams) with distort angles ranging from 20° to 50° in 5° pauses. The analyses are performed on un-stabilized and ribbed distort slabs with two short edges that are clearly supported and two long edges that are free. ANSYS software is used to generate models for 14 cases of un-stiffened and teased skew slabs. The results are distinguished in terms of displacements, bending importance, twisting importance, von-Mises stress, bending stresses, and clip stresses. The value of maximum deflection in un-solidified and ribbed distort slabs decreases significantly accompanying increase in skew angle.

Analysing Numerical Modelling Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Deep Beam with Strut-and-Tie Model | Chapter 03 | New Approaches in Engineering Research Vol. 12

The behaviour of strut-and-tie models (STMs) as derived from truss analogue models is the subject of this chapter. STMs are frequently used to assess and model the internal force distribution of a reinforced concrete deep beam structure from the point load to the supports that carry bending, shearing, and twisting forces in disturbed zones (D-regions). Where the stress situation occurs idealised as the concrete strut, the steel tie, and the nodal area, the action of the strut and tie creates an increase in the strength of the high-reinforced concrete beam construction, the D-region on structural elements can be more easily studied. The deep beam was numerically modelled using compressive loading simulation until it collapsed. To determine deflection, cracking, and destruction of ultimate load, model modification of two diagonal reinforcements, diagonal symmetrical truss reinforcement, and diagonal frame truss reinforcement, ANSYS 3D half-span symmetrical Strut-and-Tie model deep beams modelling was done. The ultimate bending capacity, load-deformation, ductility, stress behaviour, strain, and fracture pattern of STMs have all been determined through shape modification. The numerical modelling result reveals a significant difference in STM's deep beam behaviour.

Strength and Ductility Performance of GFRP Laminated RC Beams with Discrete Steel Fibres | Chapter 02 | Novel Perspectives of Engineering Research Vol. 5

Many studies have found that reinforced concrete (RC) beams reinforced with externally bonded fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) laminates/sheets lose ductility as a result of increased stiffness, resulting in debonding type failure without any warning. The goal of this study is to investigate the strength and ductility of glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) laminated RC beams with varying volume fractions of discontinuous steel fibres (Vf = 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5). Load and deflection at yield and ultimate stages, ductility, crack-width, and failure mechanism were among the metrics studied. According to experimental results, the addition of steel fibres improves the strength and ductility of FRP-strengthened beams at all volume fractions utilised in this study. To forecast the reaction of all beams, full-scale beam models based on finite element analysis were built using ANSYS software, and the load-deflection behaviour of the models matches well with the experimental data.

Vibrational and Finite Element Analyses of T-Section Cantilever Beam Using ANSYS and MATLAB: A Recent Study | Chapter 1 | New Approaches in Engineering Research Vol. 10

A beam is a structural component that is acted upon by a system of perpendicular external forces. When vertical loads are applied to a horizontal beam, it bends. The amount and kind of weight carried by a beam, as well as the length and type of beam, define the amount of load carried. T, HSS, and L shaped beams are just a few of the many options for industrial and residential use. The most prevalent challenges and failures with beams include fatigue failures, vibrations, and inaccurate evaluations of various qualities. This paper discusses the impact of vibrations on T-Section Cantilever beams and frequency modes. As a consequence, the mode shapes and natural frequencies obtained through vibrational analysis in ANSYS are compared to the results obtained through finite element analysis in MATLAB in order to achieve a thorough understanding of T-Section Cantilever beams. The accuracy of the MATLAB results has been validated.
