Assessing the Effectiveness of Intentional Learning Instruments in Teaching Circuits: A Mixed Method Analysis | Chapter 1 | An Overview of Literature, Language and Education Research Vol. 6

Intentional learning is defined as learning that is motivated by intentions and is goal-directed. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of Intentional learning Instruments in teaching and learning circuits. An intentional learning instrument for the electric circuit concept was developed based on seven existing instruments found in Self-Determination Theory. The instruments have a bearing on the assessment of motivation and learning strategy scales and their corresponding subscales. In this study, the researcher analyzed data gathered from the implementation of the Intentional Learning Questionnaire in Electric Circuit (ILQ-EC) and Intentional Learning Module (ILM) as the intentional learning instruments. The overall study involves the implementation of ILQ-EC, development of ILM and testing its effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative research analysis. Participants were 12 engineering students in two electricity and magnetism classes at Central Mindanao University, Bukidnon, Philippines. Previous research used ILQ-EC in identifying motivation and learning strategies factors which were highly correlated and predictive to conceptual understanding of student respondents. These factors served as the benchmark in the development and testing of ILM for this present study. Results for both quantitative and qualitative analysis showed that high gainers tend to be more intentional, specifically, more critical thinkers and with higher perceived competence than low gainers. Moreover, the average normal gains of the student participants after using ILM were higher compared to previous research results using different learning approaches. ILM evaluation based on student responses also confirmed the influence of ILM on their learning gains. Thus, enhancing intentionality proved a significant effect on the teaching and learning process. Future research may consider ILQ-EC to explore motivation and learning strategy factors in other topics or subject areas not only in physics.

Real Picture Analysis Modules: Empowering Critical Thinking in Science Education | Chapter 5 | Advances and Challenges in Science and Technology Vol. 5

 Media in knowledge functions to make the communication process betwixt educators and students more active and efficient. The use of learning television will determine the progress of the learning process. Science learning demands students to have detracting and analytical thinking skills. Science education is currently equip towards fulfilling 21st century abilities and is designed expected learner-centered. Modules maybe a solution to achieving student-centered education. One of the 21st century abilities is critical thinking skills. This study aims to specify the process of compiling the RPA (Real Picture Analysis) piece to improve students' detracting thinking skills. The RPA piece is structured by integrating physical images had connection with the science concepts being intentional to develop pupils' critical thinking skills. The modules are organized by referring to the stages of piece preparation according to various experts and obey to the attainment of indicators of detracting thinking. The preparation of the piece goes through the stages of curriculum study, determining the title of the piece, coding the module, and literature the module. Modules are inscribed based on the components that must show in a module. RPA is joined into the core part of the piece, specifically the writing of the material as training material to improve undergraduates' critical thinking abilities.

Integrated Dental Curriculum and Credit Hours | Chapter 9 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 11

 Many researchers believe that immunosenescence is to blame for the higher mortality seen in the elderly population during the current SARS-CoV 2 pandemic. SARS-CoV 2 infection causes a variety of symptoms, ranging from asymptomatic mild instances to more serious presentations. Primary immune cell defects and dysfunctions are thought to be the most crucial component in people who acquire the more serious version of the disease. These flaws could be in the PRRs of Dendritic cells' effective and early identification of PAMPs, or in the monocytes' and macrophages' delayed and hyper-inflammatory cytokine release in the lungs. The innate immune system response is currently being touted as a key element in illness prognosis. Even though immunosenescence is thought to be permanent, it is a dynamic process that can be reconditioned and improved. Gold nanoparticles (GNP), which have lately been explored for their ability to act as carriers of vaccinations and chemotherapeutic medicines, are one agent that can reinvigorate the ageing immune system. GNP treatment in rats resulted in an increase in lymphocyte cell populations as well as dendritic cell and macrophage activation. Because immunosenescence induces a reduction of naive T and B cells, GNP may be beneficial. Dendritic cells and macrophages that recognise PAMPs better may be able to generate a more effective response to the invading virus. For millennia, India has employed elemental gold compositions to treat ailments ranging from fevers to memory loss to senility. Because some formulations are suggested for infants, their safety is unquestionable. Such formulations, when modified appropriately, can play a critical role in oral vaccinations against not only Covid 19, but a wide spectrum of other influenza viruses.
