Microplastic Pollution Profile in the Black Sea Region | Chapter 5 | Current Innovations in Chemical and Materials Sciences Vol. 9

In recent years, plastic pollutants have been mixed into ecosystems with different size variations as megaplastic, macroplastic, mesoplastic and microplastic due to their use in a wide range of sectors. Based on scientific data, the goal of this study was to provide an overview of the structure of research on the presence and dispersal of microplastics (MP) mixed into the environment in the Black Sea region. A total of 100 peer-reviewed articles related to the topic were considered in the review article. The current state of microplastic pollution in Türkiye Black Sea coast environments which includes marine, lake, stream and freshwater ecosystems, as well as aquatic organisms, and sources and characteristics of microplastic pollution were reviewed narratively. As a result, these emerging microplastics affect the socio-cultural-economic aspects through negative impacts on endemic aquatic species, biodiversity, nature tourism, wetland habitats, aquaculture, food chain, and environment-public health. The Black Sea is at risk for microplastic pollution as a result of the discovery of relatively high concentrations of microplastics in its water and aquatic organisms. This has demonstrated the urgency of looking into the causes, movements, and impacts of microplastics on aquatic life in lakes, streams, and oceans. It is advised that awareness-raising campaigns be launched immediately in collaboration with local governments, pertinent public institutions and organizations, and non-governmental organizations. Regular microplastic monitoring studies should be conducted in Türkiye, not only in the Black Sea Region but in all provinces.

Determination of Microplastic Accumulation and its Effect on Rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus) and Parrotfish (Scarus ghobban): A Case Study from the Local Market of Zamboanga City, Philippines | Chapter 7 | Advanced Research in Biological Science Vol. 5

This division aimed to decide the abundance and traits of MPs ingested by the two bait and the link between the chum length and pressure and MPs ingestion. In the last ten of something, interest in monitoring and managing flexible pollution has considerably increased. Several studies have existed conducted that have illustrated that MPs have a significant negative affect public and environmental health. It has happened a long-standing issue on account of many MPs and must be addressed shortly. Due to their excellent spot fidelity, Parrotfish and Rabbitfish are direct bioindicators of microplastic pollution in a specific domain of concern. The samples (35 pieces each) of Rabbitfish Siganus guttatus and Parrotfish Scarus ghobban were randomly purchased locally (Magay, Zamboanga City Public Market. The study rooted MPs contamination in the extricate samples sold in the local public market of Zamboanga City, Philippines. Rabbitfish Siganus guttatus has ultimate MPs in its boldness. A regression study told a substantial opposite link between the pressure and length of Rabbitfish and the Abundance of MPs but no such union for Parrotfish; the majority of MPs devoured by both class can be accredit the location place they are taken. While red filaments are more superior in Parrotfish, blue filaments are more governing in Rabbitfish. The study's findings are having to do with, and it is necessary to completely evaluate MPs adulteration in all fish variety and other sea goods convinced in Zamboanga City's market. Fish unprotected to MPs directly come into trade people and are hazardous to consume.
