Enhancing Fault Detection through One-Dimensional Multiscale Wavelet Analysis of Potential Field Data | Chapter 3 | Research Advances in Environment, Geography and Earth Science Vol. 2

Identifying faults is pivotal in mineral exploration and volcanic research, presenting a formidable task for geoscientists. Multiscale wavelet analysis has emerged as a potent tool for filtering and denoising geophysical data, outperforming conventional Fourier methods, especially in scenarios with discontinuous signals. This paper introduces a novel approach utilizing one-dimensional multiscale wavelet analysis for fault identification from potential field data. By leveraging the discrete wavelet transform with the Daubachies wavelet, our method exploits breakline and discontinuity detection concepts to discern faults effectively. We validate our approach through synthetic and real potential field data from Dagang, southern China demonstrating its effectiveness.

Optimal R-SFCL Location in Power Grid | Chapter 4 | Techniques and Innovation in Engineering Research Vol. 9

Increased demand of capacity generation ability in distributed energetic power wholes has led to an increase in fault current levels surpassing the maximum  designed avoid ratings of the switchgear. In addition an unbalance in service level is also noticed during blame owing to the unification of AC and DC micro grids consisting of wind and photovoltaic farms. Resistive type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (R-SFCL) maybe the best answer to suppress the overdone fault current questions and also to decrease voltage imbalance by improving the rise rate of the temporary recovery voltage in Smart grids. However, new concern in such uses is about the optimum locale of R-SFCL. In this work, we have modeled a HTS located R-SFCL using E-J traits of the superconductor and implemented it at differing key locations in a smart gridiron. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) of MATLAB is developed to evaluate the influence of the proposed system on an IEEE benchmarked four-machine two-district test system. Three chapter faults of various ratings are studied accompanying and without SFCL at various indispensable content of the smart grid, listening the power flows. Such studies on best location of SFCL are main to maximize the influence of fault alleviation in an extended network of Power Grid.

Determination of Five-Number Summary Method for Fault tolerance in Wireless Sensor Network | Chapter 07 | Innovations in Science and Technology Vol. 5

A wireless sensor network is a collection of sensors that perceive data and take action in response to it. Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs) are made up of a collection of sensors and actors that are connected via a wireless media. The data is sensed by the sensor node, which then passes it on to the actor. The action is carried out by the actor in accordance with the data. Sensor nodes in a wireless sensor and actor network are constrained by hardware and software. As a result, faults in both the sensor and the network are possible. However, some study focuses on the connection fault without taking into account the data sensing defect. As a result, the node may detect inaccurate data and take the wrong action. The Five Number Summary Method for Fault Tolerance (FNSMFT) could be utilised to overcome this problem. In the future, we propose combining an intrusion tolerance approach with FNSMFT to provide sufficient security. The INtrusion-tolerant routing protocol for wireless SEnsor Networks (INSENS) builds tree-structured routing for WSANs in a secure and efficient manner. An invader can inflict damage to INSENS, but it can be tolerated.

Implementation of Fault-Tolerant Control for a Robot Manipulator Based on Synchronous Sliding Mode Control: An Advanced Study | Chapter 8 | New Approaches in Engineering Research Vol. 13

In this paper, a synchronous sliding mode-based active fault-tolerant control for a robot manipulator is developed. The joint errors tend to equalise and approach zero as the synchronisation errors approach zero. As a result, for a fault-tolerant controller, the synchronisation mechanism is intrinsically effective. The following implementation is provided to demonstrate such a system. To begin, an estimator with an extended state observer was created to estimate uncertainties/disturbances as well as faults/failures. In the controller, the estimator signal was employed for an online compensator. A fault-tolerant controller was suggested that used a synchronous sliding mode method and an estimator. Lyapunov theory was used to determine the system's stability. Finally, fault tolerant control was compared to conventional sliding mode control in a three-degree-of-freedom robot manipulator. The effectiveness of the proposed active fault-tolerant control with synchronous sliding model technique is demonstrated in this comparison.
