The Essential Role of Clinical Pharmacists: Daily Activities in Drug Therapy Monitoring, Ward Rounds, and Patient Counseling | Chapter 4 | Pharmaceutical Research: Recent Advances and Trends Vol. 8

Drug therapy monitoring involves checking and understanding the levels of medicine in a patient's blood. Pharmacists play an important role in reviewing medication charts to make sure prescriptions are appropriate. Clinical reviews are done to track a patient’s progress and see how well treatments are working. During ward rounds, doctors, along with other healthcare professionals and students, visit patients to assess their condition. Patient counseling is when a pharmacist gives advice and information to help patients take their medications properly. The primary objectives of these activities, such as ensuring medication safety, optimizing therapeutic outcomes, and minimizing adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Pharmacists can assess drug charts, monitor treatment, assist with discharge planning, increase medication-related communication, improve medication adherence and appropriateness and improve quality of life of a patient. Overall, these activities contribute to improved patient care and overall health outcomes.

Telmisartan Induced Myotoxicity | Chapter 3 | Novel Aspects on Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 3

Drug-persuaded myopathy, a disease at which point taking certain drugs can diminish or destroy powers. Although the prevalence concerning this illness brought on for one drug Telmisartan is unknown, it is popular that 150 different pharmaceuticals, containing statins, corticosteroids, anti-retroviral situations, and immunosuppressants, have been linked to myotoxicity. Guidelines warn therapeutic drug listening, which is usually evaluating the levels of the medication in a patient's distribution, to manage the risk of drug-inferred myopathy linked to Telmisartan. Additionally, it concede possibility be highlighted that using Telmisartan is indulged with a slightest rise in blood creatinine, a synthetic produced by influence tissue, of up to 20–30%. However, it is considered to stop the therapy if the antitoxin creatinine level rises by more than 30%. The case defined in the paragraph involves a patient the one was thought to have knowledgeable an adverse drug reaction (ADR) to the hypertension treatment Telmisartan. The ADR with Telmisartan was driven to be "Probable" later conducting a origin analysis utilising Naranjo's treasure and the WHO-UMC Scale. As a result, the drug was removed and replaced accompanying Enalapril. The new drug helped the patient's condition, and after lab experiment revealed that the patient's levels of uric acid and creatinine were both inside normal ranges. The division focuses on how critical it is to closely monitor pharmacological medicine, especially when it includes prolonged use, so that protect victims. Myotoxicity, a rare but serious antagonistic drug reaction, was the particular ADR connected to the drug Telmisartan in this place instance. To prevent additional toxicity, Telmisartan was not administered to the patient repeated.

Post COVID Syndrome or Long COVID: An Overview| Chapter 2 | Current Overview on Disease and Health Research Vol. 6

The all-encompassing pandemic began by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has damaged every chaste worldwide. The novelty concerning this virus, allure mutations and the rapid speed and exceptional rate at which it has torn through the worldwide community has in proper sequence lead to an innate ignorance and information about the real disease provoked and the severity of the complications guide COVID-19. The SARS-CoV-2 virus has happened infecting individuals because 2019 and now as of 2022 has existed circulating for just over 2 years inside the global various. As the number of cases have risen everywhere over this period (some of that having weakened the virus twice) further endeavours have happened undertaken to better think the pathogenesis and natural progress of the disease. A condition reported in few cases with comprehensive bouts of sickness or syndromes following the initial contamination with COVID was described “long COVID” towards the earlier phases of the universal (in the spring of 2020), but has only recently win the global media and healing attention on account of its disorder of more individuals on a global base and has thus authorized further investigation. It is clearly apparent that a substantial scarcity in information encircling the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its unending effects lies, as a substantial rise in post COVID symptoms and confusions have been stated globally.  The objective concerning this research was to find out the signs and syndromes, treatment, arising therapies and ongoing dispassionate trials of Long COVID.Long COVID is named as a persistent, long-term state of disability following an infection accompanying COVID-19. The effect of Long COVID is multisystemic in nature accompanying a wide array of signs and symptoms. The most usually reported dispassionate features of long COVID are: headaches, myalgia, chest pain, rashes, intestinal pain, shortness of whiff, palpitations, anosmia, persistent cough, intelligence fogs, forgetfulness, depression, restlessness, fatigue and anxiety. Currently no authoritative treatment against Long COVID has been certified and the mainstay situation is divided into Symptomatic, Supportive and Rehabilitative situation with self-monitoring. The bottom line of the current treatment flows for Long COVID is that of a multidisciplinary approach with a excellent portion of the treatment implicating the patient to take an alive role in their improvement, self-monitoring and treatment of the condition. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), Vitamin C as well as the use of adaptogens has proved promising results and is advisable expected added to the situation regimen of cases to aid in decreasing fatigue in patients pain from post-COVID syndrome. The use of melatonin in cases suffering from insomnia and weak sleep hygiene is likewise advisable. Currently numerous pharmacotherapeutic powers ranging from Montelukast, Deupirfenidone, Nicotinamide riboside, Leronlimab, Adaptogens, Tocilizumab, Probiotics to HBOT are withstanding clinical tests. It is thus with promising expectancy that these drug troubles will yield a viable definitive situation for Long COVID.
